Well, it's raining outside alright! It's been blustery all day again, and I even had to go out in it, but that was okay. *g* And from next week, I'm going to get to go out in it all the time! Well, sort of - I'll be back in the world, not so tucked away! *g*

I gave in and bought a paper shredder today. I used to have one, and gave it to my mum, and I must admit it's a handy thing (when you've got lots of teaching/named documents etc., not just for all those receipts. *g*) And so this afternoon I shredded and shredded and shredded and still have loads to shred! I must sort out those old laptops too, I really can't cart them to another house, especially a smaller one... (*waffles and rambles*)

So... it's my first day off proofreading, and I'm already feeling more write-y - hurrah! I have my [ profile] picfor1000 prompt, and I actually like it this year, which I haven't for ages (not to be ungrateful, but poker chips and American football were kind of meh for me, I'm afraid... although I did get something out of the wheelie bins!) This years is all moody and atmospheric, though. *g*

I'm eyeing the Big Bang of course, but I dunno... On the one hand, more time = hurrah, but on the other hand, the random stoat thing just throws me every time I glance at the comm...! And I'm planning to write long fic anyway, so...?! Dunno.

What else can I waffle about when I should be shredding again...? Can't believe tomorrow's my last full day here! Oh, my wee annexe! It was the last book group last night too - and bless 'em they gave me a card with a book token in it, which is of course one of my favourite presents, every time, so that was a nice surprise. *g*

And now I am just waffling for no reason but to bore you silly. Okay - shredding...

There's nothing wrong with the occasional stoat!

Stoaty McStoatface is a sweetie - but they kind of throw me when I'm wanting to think about our ladsy mc-lad-faces. *g*

Truth be told, whilst they do tend to pop up in my comments and artwork, they don't make too many appearances in the actual BB stories (although there were a couple of lovely little stoats called Castor and Pollux in one of the BB stories last year.) If it's any consolation, I have it on good authority that they're wonderful shredders... :-)

It might have been handy to just lock them in the back of a cupboard with all the papers.. *g*

Will there be new trees to take pictures of at your new place?
I've loved the trees in your photos!

How lovely of the book group to give you a "good-bye" present!
And that you are already feeling more like writing!

A shredder is a great thing to have, if there are lots of official-type things to recycle. You'll feel much lighter, when you are done.
Did you finish the Guyana jungle series?
Mr. Siskiou has boxes and boxes of papers from 25 years ago, but they are currently still "untouchable". *g*
Maybe we need to sell up and move. ;)

I hope I will find new trees for photos! It's been nice having a Little Tree at my last two places (okay, there was a place in the middle that didn't have one, come to think of it)

I've just watched the second of the Guyana series - hopefully I'll watch the last one tomorrow while I'm doing something else useful towards packing to go up on Sunday...!

And hee for untouchable boxes. It's felt very odd to be shredding papers from when I was at UAF, and my US tax papers (well past the keep-them-three-years guidance by now) - and my older UK tax papers (even though they're past the at-least-five-years that the website currently says). So I totally get untouchable (though I suspect Mr Siskiou's untouchables are interesting papers... *g*

I'm pretty sure that the boxes contain mostly papers about Alzheimer's activities in nursing homes.
He knows all of them by heart by now, but feels they might still be useful some day. I've suggesting he pass them on to his new assistant, but no luck so far. :)
He has "ammunition" to defend *his* boxes, as I have a small stash of Pros zines that he says I could pass on to a new Pros fan! *g*

So, this is your next to last sleep at your current home?

Ah..! It's hard to give away things that you know are important though, I do get that! And I hate throwing away stuff that might be useful one day too! Though I don't think twenty five boxes really compare to one... *g*

And yes! Tonight is now my last sleep in my current home! Well, I'll sleep here again, when I come up and down to get my stuff, I think, but tonight is the last night with my wee annexe basically intact... *sighs for wee annexe*

Yay! It all sounds brilliant - onward and upward, and shred like the devil! Does the devil shred? Surely?

Eye that BB some more... though maybe in a week or two you'll have more idea of how much time you've got. Oh wow, change! So exciting!

The devil probably doesn't shred - he makes us mortals do it...

And good point about the BB, there's a whole month to see how I'm getting on, isn't there!

Wow, change... eeep! (But also - yeah, it'll be cool. I'm just taking longer at the moment to remember how much I like change, for some reason. Maybe cos I like my annexe too!)

Best wishes to you on the move and the new job! Change is exciting *g*

I'm trying the "picfor1000" this year - and I'm stumped by the picture I got. I took a look at yours and am very envious. THAT is the kind of story I love to read and write. I'll be very curious to see what you do with it!

Happy shredding...

Thank you - I have been shredding and shredding! I'm reminding myself to be excited - I'm always excited about change, but this time I'm more determined, somehow!

Ooh, and you've got the funky doorbell for your pic, haven't you! I thought it looked very funky London townhouse actually, and I wondered who might live there... *g* Bet you think of something ace!

That was lovely of your book club to give you a going-away gift.

Do you really need to include a random stoat in a BB fic? I thought that was a little in-joke, like the whole Needs moar dinosaur thingy they had going on one year.

Oh blimey, I never even thought of the stoat thing like that!

Yeah, I think it's an in-joke, and I remember seeing the dinosaur thing one year and feeling the same way too - just huh? Cos it's not Pros, when I want Pros comms for their lads, and its an in-joke which means its by definition exclusionary of people who weren't there when it started, when I want Pros comms for for their community. None of that's purposeful, I'm sure, it's just the effect it has on me when I go and visit the place. Whereas the Safehouse, for instance, quiet as it is now, is focused on Pros and because of that it feels like anyone who likes Pros is immediately part of that when they post, or reply to comments or whatever. But obviously other people are happy there, which is cool - it just might not be my thing, mostly because of that...

Shredding can be like house cleaning though - once you are on a roll it's hard to stop. Good luck with everything!
