Lol - frantic nephews opening presents are what Christmas is all about, I guess...! Though I remember my wee nephew when I was over at Christmas - he actually enjoyed opening each present and then wanted to play with it, but his mum wanted them all opened at once, and so kept him doing that, and he was almost in tears about that - I kept wanting to say Just let him play with them!

I think the Christmas tv thing is less because nothing's open and more because everyone's supposed to go and visit family for the day, and spend time with them - often when they've not done so for a whole year in between. I think the idea of the tv is that it's a few calming moments through the day to stop everyone getting too emotionally fraught with each other! Otherwise it's all talking to each other and playing games with each other and things...! Generally the morning is all about getting the Christmas meal ready, then there's the huge meal, then clearing it up, then a Christmas Day walk to "walk it off", and then telly when everyone comes home all tired out from the day!
