I've seen people use that as an excuse over here too - "they're only guidelines". In theory they're mostly backed up by the threat of a big fine, but if someone's been told by some individual in power (who perhaps also doesn't really believe in lives rather than money) then they've got that as an excuse...

I've seen people doing that with masks over here too - if you're not going to wear it properly in a shop, then why bother hanging it off your ear in the first place?! I get not wearing it outside - as long as people are at a decent distance I take my mask off outside (though not if they're just barging their way up the street and not bothing - no, I continue to protect them by wearing my mask... grrr!)

I think people are using the idea of the vaccines as a get-out-of-jail card to be honest. But even the vaccines they've tested are like condoms - not 100% guaranteed to work, never mind the long term effects not being known because you can't test for them... which will then be used by other people not to get vaccinated, thus putting the rest of us at risk of that 5% chance of catching it from them... Okay, I'm bitching again. Only - no I'm not, it's not complaining, it's pointing out an actual problem! So... ranting. *g* Shutting up now! *vbg*
