byslantedlight: (Bookshelf colour (grey853).)

Finished another Book Me! book - and it was a fab read, too short, but every word a tug at your heart... Thank you [livejournal.com profile] cloudless_9193 for recommending it - I must look up Jennifer Johnston's other books, now...

It's the story of Alec, and of his friend Jerry, and the reasons they were together and the reasons they were apart, and of how absolutely baffling the world really is... Oddly enough it reminds me somewhat of Larton - maybe it's just the whole Anglo-Irish thing, and the upper class world that we see, because How Many Miles to Babylon is about as far from an Aga Saga as you can get. Its set in pre-WWI Ireland, and then in the trenches of Flanders, and just... ohhh...

Do read it...

Hold Your Breath, Sunshine

A ship is safe in the harbour - but that's not what ships are for.

Should've.
Would've.
Didn't. Didn't. Didn't.
