More sunshine and autumn gorgeousness today - and bonus Jack-o-lantern carving, because otherwise R and A wouldn't have seen a real one (they're away next week). I got a wow... from wee A, and R was very impressed by it too, so it was definitely worth £1! *g*

Autumn is happy!

Last day of work before a week's holiday is happy! *g*

Even disasters can be made happy though, can't they - first thing this morning I found an email saying my library books were overdue and I owed over £11 in fees (what?!) and even though I was sure it couldn't be right, I spent ages trying to find the webpage where I renewed them in my internet history - and then finding that the particular webpage never shows up as any more than the "this is the library" webpage, because I've renewed books loads of times online and there's no instance there at all (we went to the library later - turned out their computers have been glitchy over the last couple of days, and my books weren't showing as renewed, but they sorted it out for me). While I was doing that, my porridge boiled over in a hellish mess, and I had to clean that up. Gaaargh! I'd also just finished a book, so in desperate need of comfort before another R-intensive day I picked up an old favourite - Stargazy Pie by Laura Lockington, which is fluffy nonsense set in an eccentric family at Christmas time. Hurrah - another happy, even before work!

So I'm curious - has anyone else got particular comfort reading that they turn to? *g*

First I bought some fudge (liquorice fudge - yum!), then I bought some socks (can't believe I spent so much on socks, but flat toe seam socks!), then I went to an author talk (Emma Carroll and James Nichols at Waterstones). Had a wander around the Cathedral in the dark, then back into town to find dinner - of which I indulged too much, but it was good at the time. *g* The third place I tried had a table for one person on her own, and I sat and read the latest KJ Charles (Unsuitable Heir).

The last pic is where I'm staying. Could do without the loud music somewhere outside in the city - I'm hoping that since the Cathedral bells just clonged 11pm it'll stop soon. At least there's an hour extra to sleep tonight, if I turn out to need it!

And hurrah for finally catching up on replies too - sorry to be so late about it. I do read them all and feel the happy when you write them, it's just keeping my eyes open long enough in the evenings to reply that I'm struggling with lately...

Happy Saturday, everyone!
