You could be right - I was fairly convinced that this was written as movie-like as could be done to make it easier for a studio to pick it up, in which case it was certainly being done for reasons other than passion for the story!

But then that's what I find hard about writing original fiction (well not hard exactly, but perhaps the most challenging part) - writing about characters that you can feel some passion about... I did feel very different writing the Jack the Ripper piece last night, actually, because I didn't feel the same passion for Godley that I do for B/D, and I'm sure that comes across. It's a whole different kind of writing...
