I'm not sure there is a general lj etiquette any more, if there ever was one... I've been brave and commented to her though! And pointed her here, where I hope I'm not coming across too badly...

Wish I could come down there and give you an afternoon off, though it doesn't really work like that since I don't know your kids, does it... well, and since I'm working full-time at a desk... (Which, gaaah, how bored can I get? So I'm about to sign up with a nanny agency... *g*) Kids aren't stupid either, are they, they always know - I could cross my fingers that they pick up compassion and/or recognition of the ends of tethers very quickly?
