Yeah, although interestingly enough, over at rochvelleth's lj (though I think she's flocked the post) a few Americans have popped up to say they wished they had pencils back rather than the mechanical system they've currently got, because in some ways it gives them less choice - they can't purposefully spoil their ballot paper to make a political point, for example...
