When I was a student (which is rather a long time ago) I used to work as a guide at Castle Howard in Yorkshire, in the Easter and summer vacs. It was fabulous learning all about the place including lots of esoteric information just in case a tourist asked an ununsual question. We got paid, too, plus tips, and an afternoon tea!! Your experiences at Wimpole are reminding me of it all! And the rose, of course, is beautiful. (I assume you meant rose and not road...)
