Ah yes, I remember now... I too was convinced the author was a woman... possibly because you don't get too many men writing a female main character. I found out halfway through the book and all the DIY detail then made sense. Obviously a chap who knows a lot about it. *g* I've never bothered with the next book which is probably quite telling.
