I was also trying to be good and keep off the computer a bit, but really I should have done this earlier if that was the point... *headdesk*
The other thing is that my computer's been doing some rather odd things lately, and I even had to use a hard shutdown yesterday, which isn't good. I don't think it's virus-scary, but it's worrying - it all started when I went to make an lj post last week or so, and as soon as I went near the subject window, a row of + began to type itself - and then it was as if the mouse was going crazy, except that it wasn't, it's not that the cursor was doing things by itself, it was more as if a key was stuck somewhere - only for rows of + signs, it would have to be two keys... Restarting seems to clear up the problem, but when the problem occurs, the cursor isn't entirely in my control, and it doesn't like the shut-down button at all. It'll pretend I haven't just told it what to do, but really it'll be throwing its hair over its shoulder and doing it, but you can't see that, and the start menu will flash at you if you try to click it again, and... and... *is worried* I googled the problem, and it seems to have come up for a few people years ago, but all the descriptions for fixing are way above my head. I'm hoping that it'll clear up after the next update... in fact, perhaps that's what I should be checking for now! Has anyone else come across this sort of thing?
Anyway - sorry I've not caught up with replies and things yet. And there's a Dialj Pros Bingo Challenge entry - hurrah! I've not read it yet, what with the whole trying-not-to-read-much-on-a-screen this weekend, but I need to do mod-things for it too...
Oh, and I had my two-week renewal notice for Palelyloitering, so I really do have to decide what to do... I suspect I'll keep it going for another year, and perhaps in the meanwhile see how it might work transferring it to an lj comm instead... Oh, gargh, I don't know, and I need to! I guess I shall sleep on it... *g*

Date: Monday, 1 February 2016 09:45 pm (UTC)And yerch for the computer problem - it's weird! It may well be possession... (though I did find some Windows updates, and so far it's been okay today - though it's had gaps of a day or so in between wobbling, so... let's see tomorrow!)

Date: Monday, 1 February 2016 12:07 pm (UTC)Have you done a virus scan? I could be that your antivirus software can go in and do something about it. Another thought, you might make sure that nothing is stuck in your keyboard (though how that would effect your mouse is anyone's guess.) I hope you get it straightened out soon. There's nothing scarier than a wonky computer.

Date: Monday, 1 February 2016 09:50 pm (UTC)I have done a virus scan - twice, including a big one, not to mention the scans that my software does on a regular basis too! I've got Norton 360, which has always been really good (which is why I've stuck with it), and it's showing all good... The few threads I found online seem to think its a technical clash of some kind - they've done virus checks and found nothing too, and at least one of them was able to fix it via the instructions-I-don't-quite-understand... If was fixing anything else I'd give it a go, but I can't afford to balls up my computer - new-computer or even just missing-work wise! I found some updates last night, and ran them through, and so far today everything's good, so we'll see... *vbg* (I wondered about the stuck keys too, but it would require two keys to be stuck, one of which would affect other things too, so... don't think it can be...)

Date: Monday, 1 February 2016 04:47 pm (UTC)No clue about your curser / mouse thing, but if you have a virus or malware program, I'd suggest running it. If you don't, you might consider downloading the free trial version of Malwarebytes, it's a good reliable program. I've used it at home, at my techie spouse's suggestion.

Date: Monday, 1 February 2016 09:55 pm (UTC)I have Norton 360 constantly on alert in the background, and I've run extra scans since it started happening - nothing. The people asking about it online didn't seem to have malware problems either - I get the impression its a clash of.. things. Codes and updates and stuff. *g* I found a couple of Windows updates last night, and installed them, and so far so good today - we'll see if it holds! *g* (Oh, and techie spouse - what a very useful thing! *g*)

Date: Monday, 1 February 2016 06:58 pm (UTC)About the cursor/mouse problem: I use this antispywaretool since I had the same problem. http://www.superantispyware.com/
It has a free version and it removes cookies and trackers and other stuff. Maybe it will work for you too.

Date: Monday, 1 February 2016 10:00 pm (UTC)Ack that you found antispyware sorted the problem for you - I've been pretty relieved thinking it doesn't seem to be a virus/malware thing - I have good protection software, and it's not found any problems... I did find some Windows updates, and installed them, and so far today all's been good. If it happens again though, I'll look up that software - thanks!
