So here it is...

...Thursday, and I am finally feeling a bit caught up! Not necessarily with cards and presents and packing and all, but I finished my main second-job-work yesterday (yeay!), and I finally managed to come up with an idea for my Dialj post and carry it off, which I was seriously worried wasn't going to happen this year, and... yeah - maybe it's gonna be Christmas this year after all! *g*

I even popped into town yesterday, found what I was looking for pretty quickly and escaped before (apparently) rush hour hit, which is always nice. They've got new decorations in the Great Big Shopping Mall, and one thing that I reckon Cambridge does quite well is look wet, so I even paused to take a couple of camera-phone pics... They're not brilliant, but here you go anyway... *g*

What else... Oh, I'm also a bit bemused by the huge enormous flood of hate to lj, over the changes to commenting - *gets ready to duck* - because I think I like most of them! They won't actually apply to my lj anyway, cos I'm on S2 (let me know if anyone does get the new comment boxes here for replying?), but they're up at the comms I play in, and...
- I'm finding it much easier and faster to choose my user pics (and I like not having to scroll every single time when I want to use the same userpic for each comment in a thread).
- I love that they've now got an insert pic and media option
- and that it's easy to switch between commenting in different lj names now. I've never tried doing that before, but it might be quite handy for modding - I could make my (rare) please-don't-do-that comments from the mod instead of from me personally, if that makes sense.
- Oh, and the whole un/screen thing is so much simpler too...

I dunno, are you all hating it too? Is it really just me? I'm kind of peeved that I can't have it at my own lj without changing my style completely... *g*

Okay, I don't like the new big font for lj post subjects - but that feels connected to the new big photos that everyone except me apparently wanted (why did no one complain about that?)! And I can see how the subject headers would be useful for some people, though again I rarely use them (and most people I know don't either...) And I reckon people rely on spell-checkers too much anyway, and that it's one reason spelling is becoming increasingly Americanised... *ducks more* I mean, if you never look at your own spelling beyond clicking "okay" when a computer tells you to change something, then you'll never remember the right spelling, surely? (And yes, I'm talking about people without actual spelling issues such as dyslexia - but I do think that for the rest of us a spell-checker can be more hindrance than help...) Aaand... I dunno. What d'you all think of the changes? I'm curious... just for a change. *g*

Two more days, and then I'm off to Devon for Christmas again - yeay for Christmas with mates, and for being beside the seaside... *g* And I'm re-reading Hunted by Devils, which is always a good read, aaaaand... Blue skies! Homemade pumpkin soup twice this week, using wee squash-y things that were just the right size for a single bowl! And kale soup too - surprisingly yummy! Aaaand... shusshing now... *g*

ETA - you might hate me for it, but I like the new comment system, I'm going to miss it when they inevitably take it away as a result of people's complaints, and so for now at least I've enabled it on my lj! I like it!
