Books 2014 - Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

It's 1999 and the internet is still a novelty. At a newspaper office, two colleagues, Beth and Jennifer, e-mail back and forth, discussing their lives in hilarious detail, from love troubles to family dramas. And Lincoln, a shy IT guy responsible for monitoring e-mails, spends his hours reading every exchange. At first their email offers a welcome diversion, but the more he reads, the more he finds himself falling for one of them. By the time Lincoln realises just how head-over-heels he is, it's too late to introduce himself. After a series of close encounters, Lincoln eventually decides he must follow his heart... and find out if there is such a thing as love at first sight.

I quite often feel like a relatively light read - I spend most of my days reading fairly heavy academic stuff - and Rainbow Rowell (as I may have mentioned before *g*) is an author who writes the kind of fabulous light stuff that actually says more than it claims to, as well as making you feel completely at home with the people in the story. You end up thinking about things as you read, and in the best possible way. Yet again - highly recommended. *g*

Books 2014 - The Larton Chronicles by Rhiannon

Oh, Larton... I made myself not read it for a while, and isn't it just fabulous, again, and still? The lads are so themselves, even though it's very much an AU... I know not everyone agrees about that, and I didn't myself many many years and re-reads ago, but... yeah, they're so themselves, even without the guns and car chases (not counting the Jenkins boys) and all... *g* I hate that the story comes to an end - I'd like some more, please!

Anyone else done a re-read recently...?

Day Ninety Six - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I am so tired and sleepy today! Also, too much went a (minor kind) of wrong today for me not to feel niggled most of the time. But... *g*

I finished work for the night (yeay!) to deadline (yeay!) and treated myself to an episode of the new (to me) series I'm watching - Arrow, and not only am I enjoying it, but it made me very happy to suddenly spot the bloke in this picture... - John Barrowman! At first I wasn't at all sure it was him, but... it is. And he's being rather chilling and the-bad-guy, which made me happy too - he's not just Captain Jack, he can act completely different characters!

And now it makes me very very happy to go to bed... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
