Pros bits and bobs
Monday, 17 April 2017 12:29 pmI've been doing some sorting out this Easter weekend, and among other things have come across spare (but unbound) printed copies of:
- Rediscovered in a Graveyard by HG
- Dialj Bound I: Discovered on a Gangplank (various authors) (punched, ready for comb binding)
- Dialj Christmas Special 2007 (various authors)
- Dialj Christmas Special 2007 (various authors) (another copy!)
If anyone would like them, comment below (screened so people can add addresses if they want - let me know your email address to reply, if I don't already have it!) or send me an email.
And if anyone's a Martin Shaw fan, and specifically a Chief fan, then drop me a line about a couple of other things I have extra too... *g*
Not sure if anyone will reply at all, cos no one seems to want printed stories/zines now. Hope I'm wrong about that, cos I keep eyeing my fairly sizable collection of Pros zines and hoping they won't have to be chucked when I eventually pop me clogs...

Reading Pros fic - Harlequin Airs by Ellis Ward

Harlequin Airs by Ellis Ward Bodie and Doyle run away to join the circus... well, not quite, but as the blurb at Palelyloitering says, this is an "

Palelyloitering (and alone...?) - future of a Pros website...
Sunday, 17 January 2016 12:46 pmI need to decide the future of my Pros website, Palelyloitering, because I've not been able to update it for a while now, and it's very incomplete, and while I'd actually like to keep working on it, even sporadically, it seems a bit more complex to arrange since I was last able to do it.
( So when I first... )
I can look into it of course - and it might turn out that I can still work with pages and upload them via Filezilla, but... I wonder if anyone other than me ever looks at Palelyloitering these days anyway, or would if they could? Cos if no one does, I could just use it as my own personal filing system on my computer. Fanlore pretty much nicked all my zine information to start off their Pros zine pages (they did credit at first, but it looks like this is being dropped as they add info from other places too), and of course there's the Hatstand's Zine pages now as well, and are there people who even care about zines any more anyway..? Which would be a shame if there wasn't, and doesn't mean the info shouldn't be out there anyway, but...
One alternative is that I move the site to an lj community instead, which would have the advantage that other people could help add information and look after it...
So - here's my questions... hmmn, maybe I'll add them in the form of a poll! *g* They're basically - do you ever use Palelyloitering, and would you care if it was gone?

Books 2014 - A bit of fanfic...
Sunday, 26 October 2014 05:00 pmJust to keep things honest, I must admit that I seem to have slipped out of Readers Imbibing Peril mode, and I've been reading Pros over the last week. Maybe I just needed something to cuddle down with whilst I was getting used to my new place! I've read some of the Big Bang stories, and then I cuddled up with some novel(ish)-length lads.
(Ooh! The sun's just set! 4.38pm, and the sun's just set! That doesn't seem right, no matter how much I like curling up in the dark with a good read... of course I get used to it, and then can't imagine going back the other way when the time comes... *g*)
November by Sebastian
I like this one, and it's coming up for the right month too! It's a first time story, set in the difficult cold months when Doyle is recovering from Discovered in a Graveyard. About 22,000 words.
The Yellow Brick Road by Kate MacLean
Another classic Pros story, 61,000+ words, from Doyle's point of view, and starting right at the beginning - well with Private Madness Public Danger anyway, which was the first Pros episode aired, all those years ago. We follow the lads along as Doyle tries to get to know Bodie, through years of ups and downs, until... well, I'm not going to tell you if you don't know, am I? *g* Well worth getting hold of though, if you've not already read it - MacLean is an excellent Pros writer, one of my favourites.
Who Caught and Sang the Sun by Slantedlight
Okay, which is a bit weird, I read one of my own stories. But I thought I'd better remind myself of their universe if I was going to try and carry on one of the sequels to this story, or think about the third one for NaNoWriMo (though actually I'm thinking about something else now...) Anyway - I didn't find it entirely bad, so that was okay. Phew. *g* 63,000+ words. And I do rather like the older lads that I imagine myself (well of course, or I wouldn't imagine them!) so it was quite nice to be in their world for a bit.
Actually, whilst I'm here (silly question, but...) has anyone else been reading Prosfic lately? What've you been reading...? *g*

Older Lads fic list
Tuesday, 10 March 2009 01:57 pmSo yesterday I had a bit of a sulk at life in general, and lots of fab people gave me recs for older lads fic, and...
...and today I've made a list out of it all, with links, partly to say thank you to everyone and partly because yeay, older lads fic... *g* I didn't get to read all of them, but I read 198 pages worth and it was bliss and a much nicer way to spend the evening than anything else I might have sulked around! *g*
I think I'm actually going to start posting these lists at palelyloitering too - I hadn't planned to, cos it seemed silly to double up on what was already at Hatstand, but actually some of them are different, and this way I can update them when I find more fics and more recs, and... Dunno - what d'you think? I actually made a start before work this morning, and I think it'll fit in well... and actually even if no one else ever looks at them, I will, so perhaps I'll just shut up and get on with it... *g*
( In the meantime - Older Lads fics here! )

The right and proper use of learning Russian
Sunday, 8 January 2006 09:54 amAm very excited. Just re-watched Stopover, and ... I understood what Radook said to Kodai at the end! The actual words! Turns out this learning Russian lark might be useful...
Also, got my
picfor1000 challenge today. It's gonna be... challenging. But fun! I know I have about a thousand WIPs sitting around, but I'm feeling all inspired and spring-like about this one : )
Have also discovered the joys of Elizabeth Holden, Keynote Press Pros zines, and Rediscovered In A Graveyard by HG. And I am gonna post about them properly soon. As soon as my eyes stop melting.
Also, got my

Mixed Doubles, Single Malt
Tuesday, 4 October 2005 08:44 amWas so shattered when I got home last night that I grabbed a single malt and settled down with Mixed Doubles, which I haven't seen for a while but is one of my faves. And despite planning to watch it just for watching, I found myself getting out lists - Bodie calls Doyle "Ray" once - Bodie has borrowed a shirt from Doyle - etc etc! Guess this means I'm sinking in deeper... at least the water's warm!
AND I ordered more zines yesterday too... I'm desperately wanting Roses and Lavender 5, mind, and I can't see it anywhere about. Its the one apparently with another Elizabeth O'Shea fic - which is, of course, why I want it.
Well, there are the nine o clock bells. I feel a nasty kind of working-pumpkin-ness coming on...
