Book meme - S - Series You Started and Need to Finish
Friday, 15 August 2014 10:14 amThis one's an easy one (thank you
gilda_elise!) - although it turns out also slightly spooky! As soon as I saw the prompt I thought Temeraire by Naomi Novak!
There have been seven books in the series so far, and I've been eagerly awaiting the eighth, and periodically checking to see when it will be published in paperback. No luck, no luck, no luck - I hate getting embroiled in a series before it's finished!
Then yesterday I had to nip into town to return a library book, paused at the display stand to see if they had any summer holiday books, and there it was! In paperback. Blood of the Tyrants, not only published and available but in the library! I actually rushed off to buy it instead (cos it's a series I will - and already have done - read and re-read), only to pause when I got there because I realised that it was so long ago I read Crucible of Gold that I at least needed to re-read that one... and perhaps even the rest of the series, so... ack! And of course the books are in storage. So if I can hang on until I move, and get them out and re-read them, that would be clever. But... I've been checking on and off for publication for ages, and suddenly, as soon as I decide to use it for this meme - there it is!
It would be even more clever to wait until Novik has finished the entire series, mind you - I really hate waiting for books, because I've often lost the impetus and not completed, even though I wanted to. The Wheel of Time and Outlander and even Harry Potter series were a bit spoiled for me by that - I've still not read their most recent/final books because I just had to wait too long, needed to go back and re-read, and... just haven't yet. Actually it's the same for me with tv series - I'm now caught waiting for the next series of Game of Thrones (though I'm going off the gratuitous sexism in that one a bit - not that sexism is ever not gratuitous, but surely these days it's even more so...), Grimm and now Arrow - I've only got one more ep of S1 left! Maybe it's lack of practice - we don't usually have to wait to see the next installment of a tv programme any more, so I've got out of the patience for it...
So... anyone else have a Series You Started and Need to Finish (or two, or...? *g*)
