It slowed down my laptop, but just while starting, it takes ages until it's on. But then it's on and everything works fine. I had trouble turning my laptop off at the beginning. It started right up again, sometimes the laptop was working all night. It took me some time to fix that, but it was quite easy, once I asked the right questions. All my programs still work, one even better than on 7. And I found it very, very easy to switch, because the programs were just there, all my stuff was still where I had it in 7. Changing from XP to 8 was such a huge nuisance,. There are some add ons I could live without, that I can't turn off, like the cloud drive, which I'm not using at all, because I have my own personal cloud. So it's a bit annoying. But the rest is fine, as Snailbones said, just 7 with fancy stuff added.
A friend of mine is alright with it, too. We tried to install a video cutting program on laptops from other friends, one with win10 and one with win 7, it didn't work on either, because the machines were a bit outdated, nothing to do with the system.
All in all, everybody I asked or heard talking about was alright with it, once they got it working properly. Which is a problem every time a system is updated, so nothing new there.
All in all I liked 7 very much, but 10 isn't bad either, I would switch again. I do hope that helps.
