There's just one more work-day to go before it's Chriiiiistmas! Can't wait - a whole week, to potter around in. I know, I'll be bored by boxing day, but right now - I can't wait!

As for today - look! The sun really is coming back! *g*

Stuck my head around the door of the sometimes-sheepshed where the postie occasionally leaves things, just in case, and found some country life - Landlord's Christmas dinner, perhaps? (under a cut, for townies who prefer their country life to come from Waitrose *g* I like the pics, though, and they are quite English country winter...think Larton, if it helps!)

My Christmas dinner, on the other hand, arrived today from Riverford... *g*

I'm also feeling just about done and ready too - things safely in the post, or decorated, or sitting in the fridge. In celebration I watched Tripod and the Dragon before the Christmas QI, because it always makes me smile. Also, forgot to say the other day, but when I've use my dvd player I remember - I finally ha cked it to region-free, so that I can watch Ladder of Swords and Leaving Normal on my bigger telly-screen, not just my little laptop screen, and my birthday present from my brother (which turned out to be Region 4), The Man from Snowy River. Hurrah! And I don't feel the least bit guilty, cos I've paid for these products over and over again, never mind paying again to match what some big group of corporations decided was another good way to get money out of us, and then forgot about when their next toy came along...

Anyway - that was today... If there's anyone out there, I hope yours was good!

Yum--except for the leeks, that looks like a lovely Christmasy dinner.

Feeling a bit White-Rabbit-ish, very oh-my-ears-and-whiskers-I'm-late (I owe so many comments, argh! And on some really lovely things, too - especially to you!) because I've been working (very unusually for me) very nearly non-stop since the beginning of the month. As a result of which I seem to be utterly knackered, for some reason, I wonder why :-s.
It's so as to be able to take some time off for a visit from Spawn#1 - who arrives today, hooray!

I do like the look of your feast-in-a-box *g* - I hope it's as tasty as it looks, and that there is something appropriate to wash it down with. I shall definitely raise a glass to you later!

Love the beautiful west-country blue sky! That picture looks like it was taken somewhere in Wyoming :) And your Christmas Box looks very lovely (although hee I am of course one of those townies who definitely prefers unfeathered dinners from Waitrose *g*)

Enjoy your time off!

I've never understood the whole region thing, especially with DVDs. I made sure to find DVDs that were hackable, and they worked fine for years. My blu-ray will play all regions when it comes to regular DVDs, but not blu-ray ones. Makes no sense at all!

Your Christmas dinner looks interesting. I'd never seen anything like that before, a box dinner specifically for a certain holiday. What will they think up next? *g*

The feathers are beautiful one that bird.

Love the box with groceries! Such a nice service. Too bad we don't have that here.

Ugh, don't get me started about DVD region locking! It makes me so angry^^ It's just a profit-making ploy. I had to beg and cajole someone to remove the region-locking on my DVD player and they swore me up and down to keep it a secret or they could lose their job.

Lovely blue skies! I hope it's not freezing cold, though. I like your Riverford dinner box. So many organic goodies in there... Pardon my ignorance: what ingredients exactly are in a "nut roast"?
I discovered by chance that my Toshiba DVD player/writer is region-free. I'd assumed it only played region 2 DVDs, but when I popped in a disc I'd bought in the US (boxset of a White Collar TV series) which said on the box it was NSTC it played fine. Unless maybe it was region-free, while still being NSTC?
I totally hate the whole geographical restriction thing major film or tv studios impose on their content: not just in dvd region settings, but in blocking content in online streaming for certain programmes etc based on your IP address... Am not talking about free stuff or piracy, but legal content you want to pay for...

Enjoy your Christmas festivities!

What a beautifully blue sky you have in that first photo (and horseys! And Tree!) I do like that photo alot.
YAY!! for it being Chriiiiistmas! I don't have as much time off as you, but I am soooo looking forward to the long Christmas weekend. :-)
Landlord's dinner is very Larton! *g*
Your Christmas dinner box looks very festive, what with all the wrapping paper and satsumas. Mahlzeit!

That whole region-coding thingy is so bogus! When I bought my first DVD player it said it was region 4 only, but when I went looking online for a hack I learned it was supposed to be region-free; I tried discs both from the US and the UK and sure enough they worked fine. So when I replaced it with a DVD / Bluray player last year I went looking. Every shop I went into said that they were not allowed to sell such a thing, but I found one online from a reputable source and it works perfectly.

It's a bit ridiculous, in these days of Amazon and streaming services, to think that locking a DVD to a particular region is a Good Idea.

I hope your Christmas dinner tasted as good as it looked. :-)
