My word lj was just like lightening as it uploaded my pics! If that's what they've been working on, then jolly good! Now if I could just see the like things on my lj, I'd be a happy girl! (I like comments best, cos I can't see who the likes are from, though it's always nice to read of course, but I do get email notifications that someone liked the post, so I don't feel as if I have to go down the garden and eat worms... *g*) Anyway - I may be a little giddy cos I've finally finished work for Christmas - for ten whole days! Actually it may be nine, but it might also be ten (can't remember if I booked the Bank Holiday Monday off - hope I did), but it's definitely nine. Hurrah!

It's been dark grey and a bit blustery here today, though not really much rain - a few slaps on the window this evening. The tail end of Barbara for us down here, I suppose.

In between finishing work, I read Suitable Gravity by DVS, because I was in the mood for completely blissful SF lads, and just now watched Saving Mr Banks on t'telly. I can't stand Tom Hanks, but I do like Emma Thompson, and I really really enjoyed this. And I had no idea that P.L. Travers was Australian! I must read the original. And possibly watch the film. *g* It's one of those films which surely I must have seen a dozen times - except that I can't entirely remember seeing it through even once...

I also nipped to Yeovil to return the SureSignal which doesn't just plug into a socket - grrrrr - and a couple of M&S things. It was a quick trip, but I found lots more of Yeovil (its got a Monsoon - who'd a thunk it?!) and it was nice to see everyone out, all festive. And it really might be time to upgrade my phone next year, though I don't really want to. I'm eyeing up the Huawei phones, which get good reviews - anyone got one, or want to recommend their brand of smartphone? I'd like a decent camera on the phone, but otherwise fast and smooth and good at picking up phone and internet and wireless signals are what I'd like!

On the way home I caught the end of Chris Rea on the radio, Driving Home for Christmas, and got all nostalgic for our MS's version - well okay, not his exactly, but he dances in it. *g*

And then it turned out that [livejournal.com profile] cloudless_9193 had posted the most gorgeous Pros version, which I'm going to re-post tomorrow so that I never lose it. *g* And I'm going to read Pros stories from [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj, and catch up on the recs I've missed at [livejournal.com profile] ci5hq, and read and possibly knit and sew, and it's going to be lush. *g* Hope everyone's having a nice time!

Great Christmassy pictures! And I'd never seen that video before... MS dances so well, it's like he's never lost that elegant, light touch in how he moves he's had since he was much younger. I guess this video was around the time he was shooting Apparitions?

You *can* see who likes your posts. I don't know why LJ doesn't notify by email who the "likers" are (it seems very silly of them just to say "someone likes your post" *g*), but you can see who it is by clicking on the figure next to the heart symbol. At least it works like that in mobile view on my smartphone (have not tried on my laptop).

Have a great holiday season!

Blimey, good job I came into lj to check, I guess my notifications are a little behind!

MS is rather gorgeous in this vid, isn't he - he is elegant! (Well, he does do yoga, I guess!) The vid was just after Apparitions I think. He really does look very fit, doesn't he!

I can't see who likes my posts, unfortunately (or even if anyone does) because I don't have the icon on my lj at all. I think it's cos I use an old style, and it's just people who use the new version (without the properly personalised friends list) who have that feature. My phone is also glitchy with lj, but I think that's cos it's also old and has an ancient version of Android on it (see above about updating in 2017!) I can see a number of "likes" on that, but no hover to see who it is. Hey-ho!

And season's greetings to you too! *g*

I've been enjoying your posts so much, even if I don't get around to commenting. All those lovely photos! I love the 'Driving Home for Christmas' vid with MS and Cloudless' version is the icing on the cake.

OT. Are you on Facebook? If so, have you seen K J Charles Chat? She's fabulous, although a bit of a nutter, and you get to see some wonderful illustrations of her characters done by her fans. Also get snippets from upcoming books.

Hello! It's so nice to see you - and to know that you've been enjoying the posts. *g* Cloudless vid is just gorgeous, isn't it!

I did have to get a Fb in the end, and actually I do follow KJ Charles, as she's one of my favourite authors at the moment! I'm saving her bonus Society of Gentlemen fic to print out and read tonight - I adore those books as much as her Magpie books, though I never thought I'd say that! *g* Lol that's she a bit of a nutter - she seems eminently as a person should be, to me! *g*

You're such a star - I could have sworn I'd bookmarked Offliberate, but it wasn't where I thought it was, and I couldn't remember its name! Thank you! *g*

Happy everything hours to you too - especially peaceful hexie-type ones, with your favourite books!

So very Christmassy photos. In Vienna it almost looks the same, dreary weather, frosty but no snow.
I love the Shelter video with MS dancing, and thanks for mentioning me here. :-)

Oh, I hope everyone watches your vid, cos it's beautifully done! *g*

I wish I could have taken a better picture of the rain on the window and the coloured lights, but I couldn't work out how to get what I wanted (at least not when I was supposed to be working *g*) I hope you have nice weather for tomorrow (and today, and all the time, really *g*) - happy Christmas!

YAY!!!!! for it being the holidays!!! I am SOOOO envious of your 10 days off! So much time for reading and watching and writing and sewing and going out whenever you want, wherever you fancy... It'll be wonderful!!!

I love your 3rd picture, with the silhouettes of the trees against the grey sky. Very atmospheric and evocative and slightly sinister. Not at all Christmassy, mind, since Christmas should have snow (note to Santa - the snow supplier is slacking,) but still a super photo. Piccies 1 and 3 are much more like it, and if you squint at that last one, you could totally kid yourself that that's snow and not rain... *g*

Ten days off is so lush - I just have to remember not to spend any money, since I don't get paid for taking hols (erk!) But whatever-I-fancy will be wonderful! *g*

So glad you like the third pic - I rather did too, proper December winter, it felt like! And heeeee - that's just what I thought about the last picture, too! *g*

Such lovely pictures! Really puts us in the holiday spirit. :-)

You don't like Tom Hanks? Tom Hanks?! I didn't think anyone didn't like Tom Hanks. *g* I really liked that movie, though I'm not a huge fan of the Mary Poppins movie.

Thank you! Coloured lights and dark all around - it is rather Christmas-y, somehow! *g*

Tom Hanks just always strikes me as smug, like we're never supposed to forget that it's him rather than his character... Which is probably me being unfair, but there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way (same with Kurt Russell, ever since he was a Disney kid!). But it wasn't as obvious in Saving Mr Banks, and Thompson made up for a lot (and Colin Farrell *g*)

Fab pics yet again - thank you. So Christmassy and pretty, even the grey trees and rooks. Lovely!

I'm sorry for not commenting more - LJ is being a toad for me at the moment, plus apparently it's Christmas! How did that happen? *g*

I hope you're having a lovely time - yay for being off work for a decent amount of time. Have fun!

Thank you! I must admit to being quite fond of wintry black-and-grey together - though even more so when I know there are fairy lights nearby. *g*

I'm still remembering last Christmas, and thinking how quick it had been since the one before, so now I'm just completely turned around... I must find that book again about why time speeds up as you get older. It's been on my shelf to read for ages... and I've not had the time... *headdesk*

Don't eat worms. That cracked me up because whenever I don't get comments on my stories or whatever, I always think I'll have to eat some worms...

My daughter and I went to see Saving Mr Banks last year--or the year before? Anyway, we went home and watched the DVD of Mary Poppins immediately after.

Lol - come to think about it, I wonder why you have to eat worms if no one likes you (in the song - was it the song that came first, or did they make a song about it)? Cos presumably that'd make you even less likely to have friends... I always wondered, and I bet the answers out there on google somewhere - I must go and look one day! *g*

Ten days off in a row - bliss! I'm in the same position, actually, although mine came as a surprise; we've been utterly snowed under at work over the last week but my boss decided we have too many staff on between Christmas and New Year, so she's asked if I'd like to take the time. Didn't have to ask me twice, I can tell you that for free.

I love that vid with MS, it's one of my favourites.

And yet I can't believe where it's all going, and that I haven't got anything done yet?! Ack! Hope your time off is being more productive (or else relaxing, either is good. *g*)

It's a fun vid, isn't it!

Heh, my time off sounds about as productive as yours! I've finished a couple of books, and watched a couple of movies - and today I'm going to clean out my linen closet. Ah the excitement!
