X-Files and SG-1 zines - any takers?

Way back when I was in Cambs., a friend moved to the other side of the world, and I said I'd try to find homes for some of the zines she had. I've asked various people, and mentioned them intermittently online, but no one's been interested. They've moved with me from Cambs. to Wookey Hole to my annexe, but this time if no one wants them they're going to have to go to the great recycler in the... well, that truck thing that comes. *g* So - is anyone interested in taking them off my hands, or shall I just consign them? You've got until my last night in this annexe to let me know, but preferably sooner rather than later, especially as I'm not yet sure when that's going to be...

I'm not happy about the thought of them being skipped (although these days they'd probably be recycled) - and this is how, many moons ago, I ended up with an unexpected hamster - but if you get no/insufficient takers e-mail me.

I expect you've considered the_safehouse and/or teaandswissroll, but you could try boosting this at the mfu_canteen too. Or one of us cross over folk could do it for you :0)

Lol - yes, I do remember that there are Pros comms to post this too, but what with moving house and jobs etc. and being in the first weekend of it all between-places, I took the easy way to start with and posted here! MFU I obviously have no clue about, so yes please do boost the signal over there if you have a moment. I hate the idea of having to throw away zines, even ones from other fandoms...

And if there are no takers anywhere, then your loft may well acquire some zines then, thanks! You might come across fans that I don't, via your other fandoms etc., so you might have more luck passing them on.

Yeah, I hate the idea of zines being thrown away, and it makes me fear for my Pros zines, too...

I expect there are comms etc, for X-Files and SG-1, but now's not the best time for me to be spending time trying to find them, to be honest! Ack and ack!

There is a university in the US archiving zines, no? I bet they'd take them.

Yeah there is - but to be honest I don't fancy paying the postage to send them over, because for a dozen heavy zines it would be quite alot. And I'm not much more keen on zines being locked away in universities than I am on them being binned to be honest - either way they're out of circulation for us ordinary fans.

Yeah, that's the bit I don't like about the Uni archives. It's great that someone is preserving fan artefacts, but closeting them away from the fans for whom they were made feels like the same thing as taking tribal artefacts and squirreling them away in museums.
