Day 39 Happy - Wednesday...

*does wibbly-wobbly light thing that's really a timey-wimey thing* Back to Wednesday we go...
*g*
I woke up at this place - well, I woke up, had breakfast etc. (and omg, an excellent shower - definite happy thing!) and then took myself across the road to go and see the falls...
...which were looking very impressive, and tinged with autumn.
On the road then, through Snowdonia, a land of wonder and gorgeousness...

Lakes, and mountains peering out through clouds...
And this chap, just standing there quietly, in dignified solitude!
Eventually I left the mountains and came to the edge of the country, turned left and carried on along the coast of the Llyn Peninsula...

...because it feels so long since I was at a beach! I miss the sea, which is odd because I didn't grow up with it right there or anything. But I found it at the end of the peninsula, at Aberdaron, and it was lovely and shussshingly peaceful. *g*
Next stop - lunch at this cafe, which apparently dates from the 1300s and was the "kitchen"
that "fed the saints going to Bardsey Island". Now, I thought that was a bit of a misprint,
because how many actual saints were likely to travel to one island? But it turns out that Bardsey is known as the home of 20,000 saints, and is very holy indeed. Apparently going on pilgrimmage to Bardsey a mere three times was considered the equivalent of going on pilgrimmage all the way to Rome!

And they do a good toastie in the caff. *g*
Finally it was time to head for my next stop - Cirencester, which I've meant to visit properly for ages. I sauntered casually to the car, put on the satnav ready for my three hour drive - and it told me I was five hours away! Eeep! Not quite sure how I misread that the first time, but off I went!

I did detour slightly because I realised I was quite close to the Corris Centre, where you could float on an underground lake accompanied by tales of myth and legend - which I didn't do this time either, because it was late - and where there is a fab wooden furniture shop, where you can either buy the most gorgeous stools and tables and so on, or you can come in for the same price and be taught how to make them instead. Guess what I'm planning to do next year...? (I had planned to do it this year, but events...)
It helped that the scenery stayed fairly stunning for as long as there was daylight left...

Although the satnav did take me on some wee wiggly ways. At one point I found myself up in the gods, and couldn't resist stopping for this view - the folds of Wales, fading away into magic hour...
And a plump moon rose into the pinked sky...

...and the sun set over lakes and hills, and then all was darkness.
Eventually I made it to Cirencester, and that's a happy day for the next entry... *g*
