It occurred to me that the pictures I posted the other day went together quite nicely...

A Heatwave for Bodie
by Slantedlight

The sun had unexpectedly come out, and the summer felt almost like summer, which wasn't what Bodie'd expected when he'd dressed for the grey sky that had lowered sullenly outside his window that morning. He hadn't sweated through the firefight with McMillan's lot, mind, comfortably cool in his own ability, and Doyle's. He hadn't even been worried when McMillan himself suddenly appeared, replete with AK-47 and a death-or-liberty attitude about him. No, what had got him finally, had him hot and quietly flustered, was the sight of Doyle stripping off his jacket to stroll casually around the clean up operation, pausing here for a quiet word, leaning there to survey the scene and make sure it was all to his satisfaction. And Cowley be damned, Bodie thought, half exasperated, half admiring, Doyle would make sure it was done himself, and God help anyone who wasn't paying the same attention as he was.

The sun shone down, bright as all his days ahead with Ray, and Bodie turned and slipped off his own jacket, dropping it beside Doyle's on the car seat. He rolled up his sleeves and glanced around to make his own checks - how much longer Doyle was going to insist on being, exactly when they could get the hell out of there and go home.

And there was Doyle, resting back against someone else's vehicle, doing nothing now but stare across the sun-struck day at him. His gaze moved slowly from the open collar of Bodie's shirt to where he'd pulled it untucked from his trousers, and his lips parted. Bodie caught his eyes and smiled slowly back. Everything was clearly to Doyle's satisfaction.

Time to go home.

Perfectly written for these two pictures and the explanation about Bodie's holster or better the missing.
After finishing the op with a relaxed Doyle strolling around, Bodie put of his jacket and holster because of his "personal" heatwave. But never be unarmed, he still has to watch his partner's back.
Thank you for the nice story.

Perfect ficlet! I especially love this part:

The sun shone down, bright as all his days ahead with Ray

And the explanation for the look on Doyles face.

That was nicely done. I like how patiently Bodie waited for Doyle to be his thorough self. Thanks!

My favorite line is 2nd to last: "Everything was clearly to Doyle's satisfaction." Uh-HUH.

Thank you!

Lovely!
I am so so happy to return from wandering in the wilderness to find you, and so many people I recognize, and people I don't recognize, still loving b & d. Just started re-reading some favorites and fell in love all over again.

Helloooo! It's so nice to see you here again! I hope your wilderness was okay, and that you get to stay with us for a while now - that would be fab! I've been away on hols after exam marking chaos for a couple of months, and just got home yesterday - catching up now. And feeling quite inspired for Pros again too - so here's to our lads and the people who love them! *g*

It's so awesome to see that you are still into Pros and the community is still working!! You are such a rock for this fandom! Always when I do return to it, and you know that I always do, I check your profile as first! Where is the action going on now? I noticed that many of the old groups were already not working, though I did spot known names on AO3, but I am sure, we are still living mostly underground, as true CI5 agents :P

Hello! And hurrah for returning to Pros fandom (and shucks for checking my profile first - that makes me grin! *g*)

Hmmn - the action is pretty quiet these days, sadly. I've just got back from holiday and feeling inspired to play with Pros and make some posts and try to start some discussions and things at [livejournal.com profile] ci5hq, so crossing fingers... I need to post a new challenge to Dialj too.

There's a few people still posting though, to their own ljs or the comms. [livejournal.com profile] macklingirl has started an icon contest over at [livejournal.com profile] teaandswissroll (which has new mods now) and the Big Bang is going again this year at [livejournal.com profile] ci5_boxoftricks (hope I got that link right). Some people post stories straight to A03 now, rather than to anywhere on lj, but I don't seem to see them in my lj feed as they're posted, just every now and then in a big splodge, so it's usually easier just to search for Pros fic there now and then. Oh, and some people have gone to Dreamwidth too, though most seem to cross-post to lj.

Erm... otherwise, the [livejournal.com profile] pros_newsletter is still going, and the new Newsletterist is doing a grand job! *g*

I hope you pop up from underground to join in sometimes - it would be good to see you around again! *g*

Yes, I was checking out the progress on the Big Bang, feeling a bit sorry that I am late already, but after actually reading and re-reading some stories I had realized that my British is soooooo rusty that I would not be able to join anyway, but I am of course looking forward to the fruits of the labor :P

I was checking out the newsletter and also some FB groups, now I feel like going for walk down the memory lane on the shooting spots, ah this fever, this fever, not sure how you can stand having it all the time :P
