Test post plus

I'm trying to work out if what I heard once about replacing icons so that they don't vanish is true, and I was going to make this a private test post, but actually... hello! I was going back through my posts to find one where I'd used this icon (made by Norfolkdumpling), so that I could see whether it vanished and was replaced by my default icon or whether it could be replaced by a different icon with the same keywords (ETA - It worked! It worked! It's now showing my icon, not the one that I originally posted here!), and I realised a few things.
- I'm definitely not using all my 160+ icons when I make posts!
- It's been a very poor year for posting, even worse than other years which I thought were poor
- I've not made a photo post for ages, let alone a series of them
- The last couple of years (2017-2018) sucked for various reasons, but the sucking turned into some pretty fab things
= If I don't start posting again, I'm going to regret it when I look back over my lj next time! And because of course it's hard to chat to people when they're not posting, and I miss that!

For now - have some icons I made yesterday, and posted elsewhere to macklingirl's Icon Challenge:

They're not brilliant, but they were fun to make. *g*

And I will save anything else I'm going to say for the next post, which will find out if the icon-thing worked. *g*

How're you doing? Melting like me, in this incredibly bright late August day? Or...?

Well I don't want to appear ungrateful but it's too damn hot for me...

Another great collection and if I'm forced to choose my favourite would be the final one of Cowley.

Oh, it's too hot for me too - a nice 24-5C-ish would do the job nicely and feel lovely and summery, but this 28/29C muck is just over the top if you ask me... *g*

And thank you! I wish I could do proper nice icons, like the ones all those fab people made years ago, but it was fun making these ones, anyway!

I'm really not keen on net curtains, cos I'd rather see the unfiltered day outside, but I live right on a street now, with people walking past and a big window for them to look into, so it's a necessary evil, sadly. So I decided I'd better find some that I could live with, and weren't too plain without actually detracting from the real outside... and I've always loved starbursts, and alliums going pop, so it had to be these, really... *g* (And thank you, again!)

Beautiful photo out your window. I've got a bright cool day, so I'm enjoying it. Also I love the icon of the lads in their matching green shirts, so I'll harvest that when I'm on a machine that can.

I've got to admit that I'd rather see trees and fields than cars and houses, but at least the houses out my window are made of rather nice stone!

And I'm glad you like the icon! Come to think of it, I don't think I mentioned sharing them on my original post for them, but of course you're welcome to use it - with the usual please-give-credit request!

I also need to start using more of my icons than just the default. I have such fun making icons, then I hardly use them. :(

Thank you! I remember some truly spectacular icons from years ago, and I'd love to be that good, but I guess I'll just do the best I can... *g*

It's still melt-y here too... getting a little cooler for tomorrow, but my house seems to be keeping in the heat (which is a bugger considering how fast it lets it go in the winter...)

So how did you get it to fill the deleted icon with a similar one instead of your default icon? Or is this, too, just usable with the new style of LJ?

Don't tell me it's been hot over there! :-( Keeping my fingers crossed that it cools off within the next two weeks. Lovely picture out your window, by the way. :-)

I'm so chuffed that the icon-swap worked! So the secret is pretty simple - just give your new icon the same name, and delete the old icon in the same action. I guess lj uses the icon names when it posts them, so it just pulls up the icon associated with it. Yeay! *g* I wish I'd bookmarked the person who found that out, years ago, but I didn't - I just remembered it, and kept meaning to try it... *g*

It's been sooo hot over here! Hottest Bank Holiday Monday on record, apparently - 29C yesterday, 27C-ish (I think) today, and I'm happy to say that it's supposed to drop a bit further again tomorrow. It's too hot for me! *g*

I'd really rather see trees and grass outside my window, but I guess if I have to be on a street, then at least the stone houses are attractive enough to look at!

Is it just me, or do the lads' nose profiles look a bit 'chopped off' in the one where they're "running all the way"? *g*

I don't use all of my icon allowance from LJ either, but I don't know what you mean by "replacing icons so that they don't vanish"... (?)
