Icon Posting Project - Day 5

It's another silly-o'clock work night - and I've not even finished it! Granted I had twice as much work today, but I had no problem at all working on the children's school books - it's the academic stuff that I'm struggling to keep my focus on. Waaah...
Oh well. *g* Icons!

This is the first icon in my list, which goes chronologically, that I didn't make myself! It's actually not the first one I got from someone else, which I remember really clearly was from
probodie, but it's probably the second! It was made by
enednoviel, one of my first lj-friends, and I loved the colour, and just something about Doyle's expression struck me as... I don't know. It struck me! *g* And I still do like it for those very reasons, and I suppose the only reason I don't use it much any more is that it's such an intense serious expression, and I sort of try to tie my icon in with whatever I'm posting about... and clearly it's been a long time since I wanted to be serious and intense! *g*
And before I go to bed, cos I was just looking back at my lj to see if I could spot the first non-mine icon I used (didn't find it yet, but lots of defaults, so I must have taken
probodie's icon off (though I've got lots of her other ones). Though I could have sworn... well. Anyway - look what I found - the place I was on this day, thirteen years ago... The Being Back Ramble. My word but life was more interesting back then! Not that I didn't enjoy being at the village church fete last weekend, and I'm looking forward to Ikea this weekend, but still... icebergs floating around Greenland!

It's impressing.

Date: Sunday, 1 September 2019 10:15 am (UTC)I did have to flag up more issues of apparently unthought/unexamined bias than I'd expected to in these days in the first book of the four, but sadly they're artwork-embedded, so they can't be addressed at this stage. I'm hoping that flagging them will make the editors/publishers/commissioning-editors think about such things next time though... But it was so lovely to be doing these books instead of the dry academic work all day long. Four hours went in a flash, whereas my usual academic work drags out over twelve hours because I just can't focus so well on it. I wish I was better at marketing myself to try and get more of the former work!

Date: Saturday, 31 August 2019 08:32 pm (UTC)Looking back at your post - how can it be so long ago, so far away, and yet seem like yesterday? So difficult to encounter beloved people no longer with us, but also lovely to remember all the fun we had. And you - intrepid adventurer, you!

Date: Sunday, 1 September 2019 10:19 am (UTC)Oh, and yes to all that about the past too. It was thirteen years ago, and if I go back thirteen years from then I'd only just come out of my only long-term relationship, and I was still teaching, and I hadn't even been to Alaska yet, let alone left it, and then thirteen years before that I was still at school in Australia and had never been to the northern hemisphere, and... and yet this last thirteen years feels like it was just a sleep away...
But it is nice to remember all the Pros-y fun we had, isn't it! *g*
