A whole week - I've been posting for a week. Hurrah! Perhaps I've finally broken my desert-like dry spell for posting to lj! *g*

IzzardToday's icon is not Pros - sorry! It's from another of my favourite chaps though, Eddie Izzard. And hmmn - I'm trying desperately to find a video for it, and there's none online. Waah! It's from Dress to Kill, and it says:
Father, bless me for I have sinned. I did an original sin, I poked a badger with a spoon

Cos priests must get tired of all the ordinary sins at confession, they want original sins. *g*

So - Pros connection! There's got to be one... Okay, apparently Eddie Izzard started performing on stage at the Comedy Store in London in 1987 - that's no more than half a dozen years since we last saw the lads in the eps (if you count it from 1981 - only four years if you count it from 1983 when the last ep was finally shown on tv!) So... would the lads have gone to see him on stage (makes me think of [livejournal.com profile] helenraven's Freezing, where they went to see Rowan Atkinson...)? Would they think he was funny, or is he too surreal for them (bearing in mind they came of age more in the time of Benny Hill and Dick Emery and The Two Ronnies and so on... Round the Horne! Although also The Goons and Spike Milligan and all, so maybe... Anyway, here's Eddie's big break - his Raised by Wolves sketch from Hysteria 3 in 1991. Start around 1.30. I remember lying on the floor in tears watching this - and it made me giggle re-watching tonight, too... But would the lads have liked it?! *g*

I've been enjoying all your icon posts - but this one especially. I absolutely love Eddie Izzard (remember when he deleted the internet?!) My son and I have seen him perform several times. "Dress to Kill" was my first encounter and I've been hooked ever since. Love your choice for the icon.

Eddie is brilliant, isn't he! And hee yes - deleting the internet! *g* I still sit there quoting him when my printer has problems too. Can't find printer? I can find the printer! It's right there, look! *vbg* I'm very jealous that you've seen him perform - I'd love to!

I love Eddie Izzard! I have some of his concerts on DVDs, they're hilarious. He's also a great actor. And, yes, I think the lads would have been great fans!

He's brilliant, isn't he! Every now and then, when I need cheering up, I'll watch one of his dvds. *g* I've not seen alot of his acting - I keep putting shows on my list, and then not getting around to finding them....

I'd love to think the lads would have been fans because I like Izzard so much, but... maybe he would have been just out of their band of humour...? I can't decide - do we ever see them making surreal-ish jokes? I know Doyle says the villain in Purging is being surreal, but that's more thoughtful... Hmmn!

I could see them being fans, especially Bodie who seemed to have a knowledge of the same things that Izzard's routines are about. The humor is maybe a bit outside of what they'd appreciate, but not by much, so I could see them giving it a go and liking it.

Oh, I'm so glad! I stayed up an hour later than I meant to when I was posting cos I kept getting caught up watching! *g* He's a real cheer-er up-er, isn't he! *g*

Eddie Izzard! I got to see him once, roughly a few years after this video (he was on a public radio show, Whaddya Know, that had come to my area and I went to see that) and he was hilarious. I also saw him in Shadow of the Vampire, which was great as well. But I haven't heard much about him since! Thanks for posting the clip.

As for the lads... I dunno. That dancehall scene (and I know that dancehall is a Tradition, but) makes me think that they might want to watch stuff I probably wouldn't, LOL! I take solace in the fact that they might find Monty Python funny (talking killer rabbit, here) but I don't want to know for sure... :D

I think the later Izzard might have been a bit too surreal for the Lads, but this earlier Izzard ... maybe? (feeling more politically cheerful since yesterday evening for some reason ... :-) ) (been down there every time so far since the proroguing announcement last Weds - plenty of cheering-on to do! *g*)

Yes, I wonder that about later Izzard too...

Oh, and yes! I have been compulsively clicking on the news pages today (one reason for not getting more than half a day's work done...) and last night, and I'm suddenly feeling a bit as though there might be hope for the country after all - not everyone in Mr Nasty's party believes the same things he does, and thinks its okay to bully their way through everyone to get what they want... Maybe it will be enough for things to start looking up towards the stars again, instead of down at the mud as they have been...

And yeay and thank you so much for being down there every time - I wish I could have been with you!

Yesterday was pretty momentous, yes! One tiny step in the right direction ... here's hoping for many more! To lose one MP might be considered a misfortune, but to then chuck away 21 more looks a bit like carelessnessarrogance and incompetence. We shall see, shan't we - that Cummings is a very, very nasty piece of work; it's like he and Steve Bannon were separated at birth. Hard to get one's head round that level of evil; but of course in real life they don't have horns and a tail :-s They're all about manipulating the media narrative for an imminent election, now trying to paint labour as scared - when in fact they've done brilliantly not to fall into the trap that would have let Johnson choose a date to suit himself, i.e. right after a crash-out and just before the effects on everyday life kick in.
It's relatively easy for us to get down there on public transport, so quite right that we should - I know you're right there with us in spirit :-)))) Probably not today, but aiming to go back again tomorrow - and there will be stuff going on this weekend, I think (a pro-no-deal demo on Saturday, I believe, so there's bound to be a counter-demo for that). Interesting times!
