Poetry for October

October
by Robert Frost

O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes’ sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost—
For the grapes’ sake along the wall.

Pictures for October
The second pic? That's not autumn leaves, that's autumn sunshine through the peeling bark on my favourite copper birch tree. *g*

I can't resist adding an extra one of this bark - how gorgeous?!

Prosfic for October
I finished Of Angels and Angles yesterday, and started Ellis Ward's Killing Notes, which very fittingly is set in October!

...and the Lads!
And today's picture is from Minori - here's her autumn lads...

Gorgeous, gorgeous pics!

So, what did you think of angels and angles? Did you like it?

Thank you! *g*

I've read Of Angels and Angles before - you knew that, right? But... I like it well enough, though it doesn't ring entirely true to me as Pros. Bodie verges on super-Bodie, and Doyle on needs-protection-Doyle, which always bugs me. She doesn't quite fall into that, so I never want to stop reading - but I don't feel it's quite right. And there's the odd inconsistency that makes me blink too, like things with Doyle's wings and so on, but... So... what did you think? *g*

I didn't know it, but I was pretty sure you had. *gg*

Exactly the same! Especially with the Super-Bodie and needs-protection-Doyle. Amazing. But it is written very easy and I really like the story and it's just a lot of fun.
And I have to say that I like it better than Echo, which is kinda sad, because I thought Echo the better story until now, but reading them right after the other, and maybe this time Angels first, made me realise how many difficult words Ellis Ward uses. And soooo much thinking! But still a whole lot of fun, and I enjoyed both immensely!

So glad you like the pics and poetry! *g*

I miss Minori too - she was lovely, and always so positive, and in love with the lads, and... just lovely...

Even though I shouldn't (work pressure!) I have been reading along with you. Angels and Angles - we discussed briefly already - and just now finished Killing Notes. I loved it before and I loved it again this time... Thank you for bringing it up. So much to talk about, soo little time. Its really perfect for the mood of fall, spooky, uncertain, supernatural? But the B/D is delicious and lovely - so good. I have never forgotten the scene with the sound of dried leaves scuttering on the sidewalk... But really, i just loved the characterization of them. Banter just right, leaving the banter also just right. Not games, but reactions in proportion to the depth of their friendship. Such a nice change. So many quotes I love, like this one which had me lol'ing:
A strangely formed, dog-looking creature ("Someone was smoking something he oughtn't," Bodie decided.)
Or :
As Doyle strode toward the bar, Quayle looked after him with open admiration. "As beautiful as he is lethal."
"Isn't he just," Bodie agreed with a dark smile.
Squeeeee! And all the names. And the pub called the Dogs Leg! And the lads shown being so good at what they do, really getting it done with excellence. I think this quote is my tave, though...Kill me with perfect: Given their instinctive knowledge of one another, there was no surprise in discovering that their partnership worked as effortlessly here as everywhere else. Unthinkingly, they knew how best to serve each other's needs. There was no resistance, no hesitancy. As their first bout of passion swept them up-and up-neither forgot the underlying affinity that had long ago forged their bond-and they made love as friends, with total acceptance and ready affection.
Yes, yes, yes. And yes again!

I wish that it hadnt been explained away by science in the end, somehow, or remained more ambiguous... I liked B's effort to ensure D's safety in the end!

Were you able to finish it? I hope we can discuss! I have to get sleep now... :(  Sry for errors - phone posting is so hard. What should i read next?! Goodnight

I did finish it, just today!

And I agree about the supernatural thing... well, mostly... partly. I guess it would have changed the end with Bodie worried he'd been bitten and all...

But everything else you said - yes! This is a fic where they're proper them for me. Not over banter-y, and not overly soppy, but still clear they want each other, and... yes...

What should we read next... hmmn - I've had an idea, let me see if I can work it! *g*
