It's been an odd day so far, due to a late night working, and I've been feeling completely thrown off. I wanted to start posting Seventy Days of Summer posts the other day too, but didn't manage it so now I feel like I've missed my chance cos we're two days past solstice (but I'll make myself start today instead), and just... blargh!

And then - look what popped into my inbox today, just in time to cheer me up and start me feeling summer-y again! The lads on a perfect day out. *g* It's posted from ProsLib (thank you [livejournal.com profile] hagsrus!), which I hope everyone's signed up for, because how fab is it to have Pros arrive in your inbox, and just sit quietly gazing at you until you take some time off to read? *g*

It's a lovely story - the lads away in the countryside together (naturally together, who else would they be with? *g*), wandering peacefully around, and taking us with them. Beautifully written of course, as expected from our [livejournal.com profile] f_m_parkinson, so that I could feel the air of the countryside around me, all clear and calm up on top of the fort, and the green grass beneath, and... Well, you should read it, it's a total tonic. *g*

BD butterfly3
(the pic's nothing to do with the story, except that it's another lovely moment between them in the countryside. *g*)

I remember the prompt for that year from 'Write Time' as I was still getting invites to it then. The results of the challenge aren't posted anywhere unless writers choose to publish their works on other platforms, so it was lovely to see one of the stories and this one was exceptionally beautiful.

Yes, that's the one! I went to a couple way-back-when, and I've still got the year's booklets. I'm pretty sure I've posted my contributions somewhere by now, but I should check... *g* Did you write for it?

It's lovely to see some of the stories going online, isn't it — I'm hoping we'll see some more eventually! Did you see Learning to Trust, another one of Felicity's stories, posted to ProsLib back in April? I wanted to review that one too, but managed to miss my window (as par the course these days...) - another one that I thoroughly enjoyed though. The Write Time stories are also rather nice bite-sized lengths, so I don't have to try and be strict with myself and put them away for "when I've got more time"... *g*

No, I really wanted to, but for three years my work shifts didn't coincide and then my disastrous marriage ended and the ability to go away for the weekend with animals to care for and zero funds prevented my attending even further. I'm not familiar with the writer, though 'Learning to Trust' rings a bell, do you know any other writing names for her?

I always think of Felicity Parkinson as one of the "classic" Pros writers. *g* She's here on the Circuit Archive (six fics), and currently has seven fics on the ProsLib CD (nine now, I suspect, the first count was the February version).

ETA — oh, and meant to say, rats for not being able to attend Write Time... I enjoyed the ones I went to, and the other various Pros hols and things that I organised. I miss them!

I think the reason I don't know her is that I rarely grab stories that are short. If today's Proslib entry is anything to go by, however, I need to go and read them all

Oh, there are some gorgeous shorter stories out there - I love long stories too, but it's so worth mixing it up! *g*

I'm sorry you couldn't attend WriteTime any longer due to your circumstances. I just wanted to let you know that it's still being held and should you be in a position at some time to consider coming back to it, you'll be very welcome. And thank you for your lovely comment on the story.

Thank you for writing the story and sending it to ProsLib! It really was just what I needed today - peaceful affectionate lads in the summer sunshine - and bonus hillfort! *g* I did wonder which one it was - it made me think of Bratton Camp above the Westbury Horse for some reason, but perhaps just because I'm most familiar with that one!

It's actually Maiden Castle in Dorset — an amazing hillfort to visit.

It's so nice to see the lads being gentle like that together, isn't it! I always like the scene with the lads and the rabbit in No Stone too... *g*

Did you post the story somewhere?
