Just as I posted, I thought check the time, check the skies... - and look!

Just... yes! It was paler than this, because the camera picks up more colour, but on the other hand I could see it moving, and tinged with pink, and oh, so beautiful! *g*

And also wow, because I could never have taken these photos when I was living in Alaska - this is what 16 years of technological advance can do for us! I barely even had a mobile phone back then, but now I have one that can capture the aurora... *sighs happily*

Beautiful! We see the aurora from our island sometimes, too.

I've seen them on the Island too! When I got back from Alaska the first time, I was out with my brother one night and spotted something that looked like the aurora very faintly, so we went aurora-chasing to see if we could see them any better!

There's been some gorgeous aurora pics from the IOM on Fb recently too. *g*

That is amazing! I've never seen the aurora in person. Stunning.

It really is amazing, even when it's not very bright! If you stay and watch for a while you often see it unscrolling itself across the sky, too... *vbg* You can't see on these pics, but there were tinges of pink at the edges as well. *happy sigh* You must visit Alaska and find the aurora!

It wasn't as green in real life — the camera picks up the colour more efficiently than the naked eye does — but on the other hand my naked eye could see it dancing across the sky, and tinged pink on the edge. *g*

Just fantastic. I've seen the white version of the Northern lights, both the 'net curtain' effect and the searchlight variety in Northern Scotland, but never in colour. Lucky you to be in the right place at the right time!

This was probably the same as your white version — it wasn't this green as I watched it, but the camera picks up the colour better than our naked eyes do. It was tinged pink at the edges though, and danced across the skies! *g* I was lucky to have gone out just then, although partly it was because I remembered that 10/10.30pm was often a good time to see the lights. *vbg*
