Saturday matinee! Yeay! Even though I only saw the play the other day, I was still looking forward to seeing it yesterday - maybe even more so, oddly enough. I've never purposefully gone to see a play lots of times, but it's really fascinating. The door hook stayed on (how good were they to improvise covering up the accident so well on opening night, right at the beginning of the play?), and the tray made it to the right place, there were no flaming matches all over the floor, I didn't hear any obvious slips in the American accents, and I have a theory about why Bernie called her "Mrs Dodds", which I will check out next time I see it... *g* Oh, and there were buttons flying off everywhere yesterday!

And they were all just as good as on opening night, especially our MS... The energy of it was different - there was a different feel to the opening night oomph, and in some places I liked it more this time, and others I liked it more last time... MS had a couple of gorgeous silly moments as down-and-out Frank Elgin where we got to giggle with him - saying Hello! to himself in the mirror, and skipping across the stage mimicking young Nancy, and I noticed them even more this time. Oh, and he had to make a grab for his trousers once where he didn't last time, hee! It is nice seeing him on stage though, because it's even more apparent that he's genuinely a very good actor than it is on telly - he's Frank Elgin for two and a half hours, laughing and shouting and raging and crying and being silly, proper sustained characterisation and being someone else, and it's rather fab to see. And of course the rest of the cast is still good too (though I can never make up my mind about Jenny Seagrove, somehow...)

Different audience this time as well - three rows almost purely of women in the front seats for a start... (many TV Lounge and Martin's Place people there, and we were sat in the middle of them all!) But the audience seemed alot more mixed in general, compared to the elderly audience of first night, and the clapping went on through two cast appearances at the end again, so that was nice for them as well. *g*

Aaand... and I have an unexpected Pros-y guest for the day now, which means I get to chat Pros with someone who gets it until Monday morning - yeay! [livejournal.com profile] siskiou is over and met up with us to see A Country Girl, and we're going to go off and do Cambridge-y tourist-y things today - when we're ready to move... *g*
