Well now, here's a thing. I've been happily watching Pros on my computer's dvd rw, which I installed myself and is working just fine. Its set to Region 2, because the whole point was I could use it to play my Region 2 dvds if I couldn't get a multi-regional player over here. I'd only just got it sorted before I left, but I had checked that it was working. It was. Now I'm here. This same dvd drive, with no changes made to it, won't play my shiny store-bought R2 dvds anymore. Except for my Pros dvds. Which say that they're R2. Now, I'm not complaining. Not exactly. Cos it'll play my "back up" dvds, which have been region freed. So I guess I can just back up the others and the effect'll be the same.

*pause to back up an R2 dvd that won't play, to see if this works. Yup.*.

There's clearly something up so that it'll only play region free dvds, even tho' it thinks it'll play R2. And even tho' it'll read and copy R2. I suspect its all fixable. But my wtf is - why will it play my Pros box set? I don't understand! Does it just have really good taste in dvds? Or maybe it's been converted to slash! Maybe I should try a Starsky and Hutch or Due South R2 and see what happens..?

Yeah, you gotta love Bodie and his many expressions. When I made the mood theme and the icons I realized that - even though Martin Shaw is considered to be the "better actor" - Bodie / Lew had more facial expressions than Martin. *grin*

Yes, I've been noticing that too! And I'm finding it far easier to get gorgeous screencaps of Bodie than Doyle, much as I lurve Doyle. Though, you know, I just keep trying. *g* I'm not sure that MS really is the better actor actually, maybe he's just got better "presence"...

Yup. Bodie is just beautiful all the time. With Doyle he looked better with the longer hair later on.

Difficult to say. Put whoever put these two together was a genius. Even though the sparks must have been flying frequently at the beginning.

Ooh yes, boho Doyle is definitely my fave : ) Although I love the way he starts getting smarter, and Bodie more casual as the eps go on. You know, bizarrely enough I had a curly-haired boyfriend for a while who sometimes dressed a bit like that too. Never made the comparison until recently!!

I know, wouldn't you love to have been a fly on the wall while they were filming the first ones? Well, and the rest, of course...

I have no idee about settings on compy drives. It scares me that you have to set them and amen, forever after you're stuck. That's why I bought an all region DVD player off ebay :D

My eventual plan is to get a multi-regional player, but I'm gonna have to get a tv first, so there may be some delay... I actually don't mind taking my computer apart and playing with it these days (helps to have a brother in IT!), but I dunno what to play with in this sitch - I don't want to deprive it (or me!) of Pros, when its clearly so happy with them..!

Yeah, but the bit that confuses me is that its set to play R2, but the only R2s it'll play are Pros! And I know my Pros are R2 not region free cos they wouldn't play in my mate's R1 dvd player... So why won't it play my other R2s? Its a swirling vortex of confusion and bafflement right now, but I will get to the bottom of it. Eventually.
