The Scarsdale!

So, there was a thing on Saturday, down in London...
...in a wee pub called the Scarsdale

And this is what London looked like that weekend...

Well, okay, only just for that morning really I think, but this is Hyde Park that I walked across(very quickly cos I was late) to get to the Scarsdale!

And inside the Scarsdale were lots of Pros-y type people, only I'm not going to put up pictures of them, cos I don't know who's internet-shy and who isn't (I am, for anyone who cares to know!). I will put up this one picture just to prove that it really happened though...

See? If you look really closely, amidst the glasses and the carrier bags full of chocolate, you can see actual evidence of a livejournal-type bunny... *g*

The only other pic I have (I know, there I was in a Pros location, with a camera, and did I take any location shots? Not a one! Wasn't what was on my mind, to be honest - far too much interesting chat around!) is this one:

Which just goes to show that one pub looks much like another from inside, after dark... *g* But outside were green umbrellas, and hanging baskets, and white wrought iron chairs, to match the wrought iron entrance-y bit, and it really did kind of feel like I could be in the Fall Girl pub... *g*

Look - them inside:

And them outside:

(Thanks Tauna's Slash Den!)

Otherwise... I think I mentioned there were lots of fab people there. Shall I name drop? I think everyone's actually had their names dropped elsewhere in Scarsdale mentions, so why not?!

I didn't get to talk nearly properly enough to many of them *waves to [livejournal.com profile] jojosimco, [livejournal.com profile] heliophile_oxon, [livejournal.com profile] retrogirl73, [livejournal.com profile] elfbert, [livejournal.com profile] andreathelion and [livejournal.com profile] enednoviel*, and still only half as much as I'd like to many others [livejournal.com profile] icekestrel (aka just-down-the-road-girl - what is it with East Anglia?! Pros central!), [livejournal.com profile] lisaloveslewis, and of course the usual suspects, [livejournal.com profile] crimson_37 (and by the way, if you haven't seen the picture she did for [livejournal.com profile] andreathelion for Sweet Charity, then go now and see it - it's the most beautiful thing! I mean, I thought some of last year's Mistletoe artwork was stunning, but this..!) and [livejournal.com profile] londonronnie and [livejournal.com profile] probodie - to whom thank you for letting me kip in your hotel room! Much appreciated, and I wished I'd managed to stay awake longer for the reading-of-the-porn... There were even people at the Scarsdale who... brace yourselves... aren't on livejournal! I know! *waves also to Unnatural Blonde* (who will probably never see this) and... brace yourselves more... Paul and Baz! Yes! Token blokes! Who don't slash Pros! I mean please, what is the world coming to? They were... genners!

So... what happened there? Um... I'm not entirely sure. Well, I mean, of course I am, there wasn't that much wine involved, but it's kind of hard to say. There was chat. Sort of like there's natter at Nattercon. There was pulling of Pros-y crackers (hah, not the bestest kind, but the happy fun kind) and much non-wearing of the hats, and occasional eating of food (recommend the steak and ale pie) and various drinking of... stuff. There was only one broken glass (as far as I know, and no it wasn't me, and I don't think anyone wanted to throw us out.

And... I think that's all!

Went to Camden Lock on Sunday, and again - did I do location pics? No... I did finally buy an actual coat though, after three years of layering hoodie and fleece and whatever else I had available. Well, I was in Alaska for winter then... My new coat is long and black and sort of velvet-ish, with big pewter-type buttons, and it swishes as I walk. I've wanted a coat like that for years - never been able to find one to fit! So yeay for Camden. Could have wandered there all day, mind...

And... that really is all! Back to the condoms on Monday it was, and ordinary life just a little bit more Pros-ily brighter... *g* Except to say thank you to [livejournal.com profile] retrogirl73 for organising it all, and for the crackers, and for setting a date for next year's bash already!

Eee! I've been there! We went there when we went to London! So much fun.

::sigh:: It would be so much fun to be able to join y'all some day...

Wheeee! You've been to the Scarsdale! That's almost as exciting as knowing that the lads have been to the Scarsdale! No, I mean it - is it just me being really weird, or is it kind of fun to think that people that you don't know but you know have been exactly where you have, and your worlds just sort slid beside each other for a while? Maybe that's just me...

I'm jealous of your snow, btw. There's a bit of me that's missing snow-y worlds just now too...

*waves back* ... looking at the pics above, I suddenly realise that, from where I was sitting on Saturday night, if we had been in a time-warp and the Pros were real (yes I know they are really real, really) and the events of Fall Girl were actually going on, then I would have been able to reach out and touch Bodie slap bang on the .... which makes me very happy and giggly *g*

And your swishing black velvet coat ... yeay, result!

Heeeeee! You could have touched Bodie's..! You know you could probably have snagged Doyle's as well, just as he was turning around to leave... I need better seating next year!

*swishes black coat in your direction and grins hugely*

Thanks for reporting on the Scarsdale meet up. I've been having computer issues so yours is the first I'm reading. I'm so NOT in the know that I wasn't even aware that it was a pros location. I just thought it was a great place for everyone to meet. D'oh.

Hee - I can't remember how I knew, though I suppose I would have cottoned on as soon as I walked up to it! I'm pretty sure I had to be told though, so I wouldn't feel bad about it! Hope you're computer's okay - worst thing in the world when they're playing up... Well, maybe not that bad, but still pretty bad...

It sounds like such a great time!

The cable company fixed everything, so I now have the telly and the internet. I'm lost without out them, I'm ashamed to admit. :-/

Oh yeay! I know what you mean too - last year when I was in Alaska someone cut through the cable that was supplying us all with phone and internet connections, and I was lost for over a day! It was so strange, such a cut off feeling! We seem to have a new way of connecting with the world, and it just doesn't feel right without it!

It all went so quickly, didn't it? I keep thinking of things that I wanted to talk to people about, and never seemed to get the chance to do it...

Life seems dead boring now *sigh* even though I've been playing catch-up with everything since I got back.

Haven't even posted my own CI5mas report yet!

Oh, it really did - I kept turning around thinking, right, I'll talk to her next, and then someone'd distract me, and I'd talk to them instead, and then eventually most of the hers had left, and... argh!

And life is suddenly a bit duller, isn't it - just from that one very shiny bit being done now... Good job there are other shiny bits, like knowing that there's dialj and advent calendar every day! Yeay!

Yes, bizarrely enough I do actually have that picture... and I don't even remember seeing you do it! Will get those organised and sent as soon as I have half a chance... so by about April, then...?!

Oh, and I'm dead jealous of you guys going to Gay's the Word after we'd left - there's research books I need in that bookstore!

We *did* wonder which book it was you needed. Not sure why we just didnt phone you, other than we were tired! But it's a gorgeous book shop. Next year, hon, yeah?

::waves back:: It was really lovely to meet you! I only wish I could have stayed longer - there were so many things I wanted to ask you about bears and floating condoms and history ... and writing! I do hope I'll get a chance to cross paths with you another time (next year in Jerusalem the Scarsdale, as the old moles' saying goes).

Congrats on finding your coat - glad you enjoyed your weekend in London!

heh, seeing Precambrian bunny lying on the table gave me the courage to sidle up and say something gormless like "are you CI5?" and thereby introduce myself ... so thanks for that *g* and sorry I missed you!

Glad it was useful for something! I took it in case I might have to wander round a crowded pub waving it hopefully at people, as I hadn't ever met anyone before - but then I recognised a couple of people from photos (phew). Sorry to have missed you too - maybe next time!

Lovely to meet you too, and there was so much I wanted to ask you about rabbits and fics and... writing! As you say, next year in the Scarsdale!

Unless you maybe had an email from me..?

Would love to try and cross paths sometime, but lately it seems every aspect of my existence is unpredictable and chaotic (freelancing means never having daring to say you're sorry actually not available on such and such a day) ... don't suppose you ever work in the British Library occasionally or anything like that, do you?

How nice to read your report and all the comments, even if it does leave me seething with envy - we really do have a great, great fandom. For next year, could those in the know flag it up in as many places as possible quite a bit in advance ( if school holidays coincide, I might be able to do it next year)

Was beginning to think it was all down to a secret handshake..*g*
