Hey honey, I'm ho-ome... (*is very brave and doesn't cry much*)

'tis the end of Bank Holiday Monday, and here we are back in Cambridgeshire, and it's raining outside...

But this morning we were still at [livejournal.com profile] foxcat75's place, and after a quick bout of Pros this morning, she took us to see...

...the underground tunnels of Exeter...

...where there were skeletons... (Apparently the poor chap was cycling along on his Penny Farthing and didn't notice that the olde plumbers had left the cover off the hole in the road... and now and again visitors can hear his cycle zhoooshing along the passages, and perhaps feel the gentle breeze of his passing...) Or, you know, the bicycle bell that our guide rang when he turned off the lights... *g* It was quite fun, anyway! And [livejournal.com profile] kiwisue has some fab shots from her camera, which you must nag her to post! *g*

Then we had Starbucks (wheee, not had Starbucks for... well, probably weeks!) and then we wandered around the Cathedral, hunting for little faces...

...and looking at fab doors...

...and then... and then...

...we realised that we had had all the lads yesterday after all - Cowley Bridge, D'oyly Cartes and...

But the-en... after a final Pros ep, [livejournal.com profile] kiwisue and I waved goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] foxcat75, our last Pros-y visit of the trip, and set off eastwards... and we mostly missed the traffic, and found takeaway for dinner, and now here we are...

Shame I have to go to bed in a bit rather than catching up on my flist... but maybe I can read a little Pros before sleep..? And work? There must be Pros! I need comfort-Pros to make up for being back at home again! Although I guess there's always Discovered on a Hardrive - six days left! I should go and write a WIP! Is anyone else going to post WIPs? That'd be something Pros-y to look forward to... *g*

I'm glad you made it back ok and that there were no more "people on the road" on the way home. And ugh, I really don't want to go back to work today either. But on the plus side, I'll probably spend most of the time day-dreaming about Bodie and Doyle playing crazy golf on the seafront or playing arcade games on the pier, or of 1930s Bodie and Doyle solving an Agatha Christie style mystery at a luxury house on the cliff edge while at the same time being all dashing and sophisticated and slashy...

Hellooo! It was bizarrely slow at W-S-M even though we couldn't see any people still on the road... *g* But that was the only place. And the German woman was wrong - it's chucking it down on this side!

And ohhh, daydreaming about the lads doing all those things sounds fabulous - perhaps I'll join you! Although right now I fancy daydreaming about them being all cosy inside together with the rain pouring down outside... maybe I'll start there... *g*

And thank you again for a lovely stay!

Oh, excellent, I'm glad you found Collins Road! And your whole day sounds very good. (Although I think Jack and Bodie from Larton would have come up with a better story for the poor skeleton....) Shame about being back a work, but I'm still holding out hope for the weekend after next!

Ah, yes, er, the DIALJ story. Well...I will be posting one but, um, late. But I am bound and determined to finish one of them!

Good luck with work!

I quite liked the idea of the Penny Farthing Ghost myself!

Weekend after next I must sort - I'd been thinking of the coming weekend, you see, and a friend has asked me to come up to Manchester too, and I'll not have a chance to phone her until tonight, so... But I will get back to you! There's a couple of other people who'd like to come up too - [livejournal.com profile] magenta_blue said she'd be up for a visit again, but again we were thinking this coming weekend, so I must see if she's free too; and [livejournal.com profile] greengerbil said she'd like to see you again too... Shame you can never make it for the week before when everyone's all in one place!

And as for your WIPs, well, WIPs can be posted any time just as stories, right? They don't have to be for the Dialj challenge, so we shall look forward to yours whenever it appears! *g*

Well, and if we're talking just me, I'm free this coming weekend. I just have no transportation. EOS is working 8am-9pm Saturday and Sunday (May 30 & 31). I'm just here on my lonesome.*g* Next week, EOS is working 1pm-9pm (or thereabouts) Monday-Thursday but is free Friday-Sunday (June 5-7). So, if any of that fits in with people's schedules, that would be very cool! (Although I also don't to put anyone to any difficulties.)

There is a chance that my work schedule will allow me to travel a little earlier in May from now on. The usual workshop we do looks like it might not happen at the same time. It was cancelled this year, but only at the very last moment. Arrgh. It would be fun to go to Nattercon again!

I'll get in touch with my friend and let you know if I can change things with her for the next weekend!

*headdesk* for the cancelled workshop this year - the Nattercon celebrations were fun, and there were pics from earlier cons up, so it was fascinating to see who was who and who was there and so on!

We probably almost crossed paths at some point - [livejournal.com profile] fledge and I went to Swindon and back from Manchester to visit [livejournal.com profile] eilidh_morveren. I was amazed at how light the traffic was for a Bank Hoiday Monday but at a service station on the way home we realised that most of the population of Burnley were on their way home from Wembley and maybe that scared other road-users away?

Hee - I would have been waving if I'd known! *g* I was amazed at the traffic too - we really only were slowed down by Weston-Super-Mare, and I think that was just cos they still had speed limitation signs going. One of the traffic websites had just said "people on the road"! So you reckon everyone was travelling between Wembley and Burnely? Worked for me! *g*

You make me so ashamed - all these years of living fairly close to Exeter, and even working there for a while, and I've never ever actually been into the tunnels - and they look wonderful! Next time I'm over that way with an hour to kill, that's what I'm going to do.

Glad you had such a good time and got home safely - I know the traffic was horrendous ::shudders::

If it's any comfort at all, I lived in the next county up for nearly two years, and had no idea that there were underground tunnels in Exeter - I barely ever went to Exeter... It's funny how we tend to explore far away but not near, isn't it...

And I've got to say I was quite impressed with the traffic - either we cleverly left it until just the right time (apart from the alleged People On The Road), or else it was generally very well behaved... *g*
