Wheee - on the road again, for a mini-Pros weekend, with lovely Pros-y friend, and lovely Pros-y friends! I met [livejournal.com profile] magenta_blue at the station, and we headed off to the Warehouse of Dust and Dreams - finding more dust than dreams this time, but hey-ho. Coffee and cake, and then we were properly off...

Now, guess which country. *g*

...with such glorious fields of flowers?

And such pretty houses beside the river...?

Norfolk! *g* Isn't it lovely? We had a little wander, and there was much chat about writing and Pros and life and the universe and everything, and there was pizza and chilling, and then the rest of the gorgeous evening looked alot like this...

We found a gorgeous little pub with fairy lights and comfy sofas for sitting on, and locals recommending wine at the bar, and eventually even Nirvana on the jukebox... *g* And chat. We found time and chilling for much more chat. Lovely. *sighs happily*

And yet again, I so want to move to Norwich! It has prettiest pub, and the comfy-est B&B, and every step you take in this city shows you that the people who live here like it, and appreciate it, and feel it. It's full of history, and little subtle-y plaqued stories about that history (we know why there's Pottergate, and Upper Goat Lane!), and it's also full of bookshops which were closed by the time we got there, but it's just good knowing they're there, you know?

Just... yeay. *g*

My one and only visit to Norwich was over 30 years ago, and then I spent all day being dragged around the shops by my m-i-l, so I saw absolutely nothing of the town *sigh* I do remember the market stalls with their stripey awnings though - are they still there?

I was trying to persuade the other 'alf to go down to Norfolk for his birthday, but I don't think it's going to work out...

Sounds like you had a lovely time - I wish I'd been there! And the photos are lovely. The left-hand one of the wine glasses looks like an advert... Oh, and do I get a bonus point for knowing that Happisburgh is pronounce Hazeboro...? *g*

(Shame that the other name on the sign is Ingham, and not Hingham though...)

Yes! The stripey-awninged market stalls are still there! Norwich is just gorgeous, I'm so in love with it... *sighs*

And you do get bonus points! And extra bonus points for noticing that we were just missing an H as well, cos I didn't, all night!

The left-hand one of the wine glasses looks like an advert...
Heeee - that's just what [livejournal.com profile] magenta_blue said! *vbg*

Ooh! I know that street along the river! In fact, I was there yesterday! That is so cool! *g*

It sounds like the perfect evening. I'm so glad. I love Norwich. It really is a wonderful place.

It does look lovely. You're quite the pros-traveller lately, aren't you! Do you think maybe some day you'll mastermind the Great Prosfic Locations Map?

This is one of the exact locations in Asymphototropic's "Lace" *g*

Ooh, I got lost on your link there - it just took me to a big map of the USA! I've not read Lace I'm afraid - I can't quite see our lads in Asym's version of them, and once the names are there I can't read them as original fiction either - eep! But there should be more Prosfic set in Norwich! (That's where you meant, right? Erm...?)

And yes! The Great Prosfic Locations Map! Strangely enough, I need to practice some GIS mapping, and now that you remind me, that might be just the project... Hmmn... I just downloaded the software today too! *g*

Bother, I mucked up the link - it was my doing entirely. No, it just caught my eye because she mentions some streets and a shop in Kentish Town that I recognise, and I was trying to link to a photo of the shopfront!

Can't help thinking it would be a highly motivational project to practise your skills on, though - seriously, I have no idea - would GIS mapping be something you actually could practise on something like that? (zoic#1 is keen on manga, and is actually learning Japanese to the point where she can exchange a few faltering words, count, ask for a few things etc. I don't "get" manga at all myself, but if it motivates her - why not!)

Oh bum - would have been a very clever trick if you'd managed it, mind! *g*

It would be terribly motivational, that project - and I don't see why I couldn't map it via GIS, adding in clever layers and info as required. Once I'd mastered clever-y, of course... I'd never have learned html if I'd not wanted to play on lj and palelyloitering either, so I think whatever motivates you to do something new has got to be pretty fab!

Norwich looks and sounds like a good place. Gorgeous flowers, great pubs, Pros folk - what more could a gal ask for, eh??

Hahaha I love the gorgeous pub complete with full wine glasses - reminiscent of Nattercon! And I love poppy fields.

Once went to Hemsby, which is next to Great Yarmouth, but never Norfolk, although it does make me think of Alan Partridge AH HAH!!

It is a bit of a bugger to get to, though, either via road, rail or bus.

Heeee! Tables should be full of wine glasses though! *g*

There are a few fields around here right now that are pure poppies as well - I have to take some pics!

I guess Norwich is kind of at the edge of the world... but that's probably half the reason it's so cool... *g* Worth the trip, I promise!

Gorgeous piccies! And it sounds like you've had an awesome time *g*.

I'm off to Norfolk next month visiting EOS! Only snag is that it's such a bugger of a place to get to *bg*.

Thank you for the advert... *g*

It was definitely relaxed, though not in the traditional sense of serene... Lovely in general, though! *g*
