Good telly - with added MS

I'm so spamming today, but... *g*
Yeay MS on The One Show! Who saw that? Someone besides me must have seen it! And maybe cringed alongside the "spoof" intro with the presenters as our lads? MS looked very jovial at the end of it, I thought! But he also seems adorably bewildered by how popular it is - what's the betting that he's never actually watched it! It's good! It's actually got a social conscience (when you put it alongside so much of today's telly)! And it was good! The characters were bloody good, even the "bit" parts, and it was just... good! As
shooting2kill said in a comment earlier, I'm so proud of our show, for standing up beside everything and still looking good! You can't really be amazed that it's still well-loved - and for more than just the cars and guns!
Anyway... I love how he interupted the interviewers to ask soldier-lad a question, and put his own nerves about performing in the context of the wider world at the end too. It's like he's a real, thinking person an'all... *g* But still - awww to getting nervous on first night, and on first night opening in London in front of all the critics!
If only he'd mentioned LC/Bodie it would've been perfect... But he's talking about Pros with a kind of bewildered appreciation now, so that's something...*g*
And then there was rather a fab programme on BBC2, Victorian Pharmacy, of which I managed to catch the second half - must remember it's on next week - and then Countrywise was in Snowdonia, and went to Portmeirion, which I just put in my travel meme as place I would recommend to a friend at
scene_again - cos it's gorgeous! And peaceful, and beautiful, and with added pottery. *g*
And now I have a desperate yen to go and re-read all of Rhiannon's historical stuff, and then perhaps start on some Meg Lewtan re-reads, and... oh, and Lizzie's Family Affair! *g* I do like AUs! Hmmn - which one of the lads would be a Victorian pharmacist? Neither actually, would they... but they'd probably have to give each other treatments... *g*

Date: Monday, 19 July 2010 08:17 pm (UTC)I thought MS was lovely tonight. I've always thought he was a good listener and he seemed genuinely interested in the soldier's story. I felt for him a bit when Louise Minchin - as Doyle - patted her wig and then said something about him being the 'pretty one' so Bodie must be the handsome one (can't remember the exact words but I think that was the gist of it) and MS looked slightly put out. I wish they wouldn't always put one against the other as they seem to do. Good to see him, though. And the Victoriam pharmacist? Well, with those 'specs I think it should be MS. I think he might take the task more seriously whereas Bodie might joke about it and get the measures wrong....

Date: Monday, 19 July 2010 08:37 pm (UTC)I totally rolled my eyes at that bit about "the pretty one"/"macho one" - did they see Doyle?! I wish they wouldn't go on about his hair too - so he had curly hair, lots of people do! Even blokes having perms aren't that bizarre after Keegan and all - and the haircuts that alot of blokes have now. Plus it suited him... I do wonder whether he forgets about having it curly in Beasts though, or whether that just doesn't count... Know what you mean about pitting them against each other too - but people always do seem to... even the whole "Bodie Babe"/"Doyle Doll" tosh... (sorry, but... *g*)
And hee for MS's specs - good point! And there are those pics of MS with his flower remedies too... though I always think that if Bodie does keep such good care of his guns (fanon, I know - in fact it's only ever Doyle we see cleaning his, come to think of it) then he might be quite precise about measures and things...
