Well now I know what *that* feels like...

You know how Cowley's sent tumbling down the stairs in Rogue? Guess which silly moo managed to fall head first down a flight of stairs at work today? Just when she was writing away for Dialj as well... well, had stupidly paused to treat herself to a biscuit from the canteen, which of course also didn't make it down the stairs intact either...
I've no idea how I managed it really, though I vividly remember that moment when I was thinking Shit, I can't stop myself falling down these stairs... - and then luckily a moment at the bottom where I thought, Right, get up, get up, get up cos you're fine! Which I think was pretty much as soon as I arrived there... *g* And people going Ooh, she's fallen down the stairs... *headdesk*
I don't recommend it though... owwwwww. I have bruises everywhere, and it's entirely possible that two of them are cracks/wee breaks but they're in places where nothing can be done about them anyway, and everyything seems to be pointing in the right direction, and I can hobble on them (big toe on one foot, side of other foot), so... and I've already got the beginnings of a black eye (and my cheekbone hurts - eeep moment when I really hoped I'd not done an MS!)... and scrapes down one leg. And a headache... but I've stopped seeing that interesting zig-zaggy thing that was there at first, so that's good... *g* And even better, now that I'm at home I can take ibuprofen - yeay...
Didn't go to casualty (too far to walk, and they couldn't have done anything - walking wounded, no blood, it's all good) but two of our first aiders were lovely, and took me to the first aid room and I got to lie down - for what turned out to be about three hours! - and when they were happy I wasn't going to expire immediately, they organised themselves to take my bike out to the park and ride and to take me out to the park and ride, and then to drive me home, before going back to work - bless 'em...
And now here I am. Apparently needing to go waaaaaah on lj, and perhaps hope quietly (but just loudly enough) that there might be some Pros-iness around tonight to cheer up the silly moo who fell head first downstairs at work? In fact I've brought some eps downstairs with me (landlady's away this week, so I can expire in peace and quiet) so maybe I'll start with Season One and see how far I get... Or should I re-read Yellow Brick Road, which I also brought down? Or maybe just another wee sleep first... silly moo...

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 03:39 pm (UTC)So, how many pure malt scotches had you had before you fell?
Seriously mate, that sounds like a very nasty fall. I reckon you need a good soak in the bath to ease all those bruises. And I hope the black eye's not going to stop more trips to Windsor! Eeep!
As for Pros-iness, there should be a little something from me appearing on DiaLJ in the next day or two. In the meantime, enjoy the eps and YBR!!
*sends you a virtual bottle of wintergreen for the aches and pains...*

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 04:04 pm (UTC)Season two tomorrow sounds like an excellent idea - I rather think I will be taking my first sick day in about 15 years, tomorrow... and at least then there'll only be one working day before I'm off on Friday for Windsor - yeay... Today I'm starting with Where the Jungle Ends - let's see how far we get! It's been ages since I watched Pros properly - though I can think of better reasons for it!

Sounds like a good excuse to indulge in watching Pros. Maybe avoid "Weekend in the Country", as well as "Rogue" *g*. There are lots of staircase scenes, aren't there? Full of dramatic possibilities as you've just amply demonstrated.
And isn't it terrible how we tolerate violence on screen and conventiently forget how much it hurts in real life.
Hope you're feeling much better soon.

I was thinking exactly that as I lay in the first aid room! *g* Was trying to remember bits for fic, and then thinking that it must have really hurt our lads when they were bashed up in Klansmen and all... poor lads...

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 04:45 pm (UTC)and I do have one Prosy thing to tell.. I now have the Pros as my ringtone on the mobile. YAY! (I know I'm kinda late, but I didn't understand about the bluetooth thingy until now *g*)
have a nice evening, and take it easy! :)

Wish I could come and be a servant for a couple of days.
Take care and Pros as distraction sounds like a great idea. Maybe with a relaxing single malt on the side.

I hope the bruises go quickly - have you any arnica? I usually find that helps. Sending a big cyber hug.

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 08:24 pm (UTC)I don't have arnica - and I should have! I'm not even sure I've got any witch hazel left, come to think of it, and definitely no aloe vera... what do I keep in my first aid box - eep!

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 07:05 pm (UTC)I frequently trip at the top of the stairs (because I'm not concentrating properly) and I think to myself, 'oh my god, is this it?' Luckily though, I have so far avoided going the whole way down, managing to grab something to stop my fall.
So I can easily imagine how terrifying it must have been, falling head first AND on uncarpeted steps to boot!
Glad you've got the lads to keep you company *g*

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 07:09 pm (UTC)Oh, but I know what you mean about having that moment as you fall when everything kinda goes into slow motion and you know you are going to fall and that you can't stop it from happening, that's happened to me once or twice. I hope you aren't too battered and bruised - sympathy for the inevitable stiff and soreness that tomorrow will bring. And yay to your colleagues for taking good care of you.
Rest up!

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 09:09 pm (UTC)Eeh, I hope you didn't hurt yourself too much when you fell - it's not nice, is it! I'm really not looking forward to tomorrow morning either - my knees are already rather stiff and not wanting to lift me up!

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 07:39 pm (UTC)Oh love! Ouch! You sound like you did a Winnie the Pooh impersonation 'bump bump bump down the stairs...'
I hope you feel okay in the morning - that's a hell of a shock to your system. maybe a day at home tomorrow? Just take care of yourself.

Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2010 07:50 pm (UTC)You should only launch yourself down a flight of stairs if there is a tall, dashing and handsome man standing at the bottom to catch you. Honestly, how could you make such a rookie error? Do you need to work on your swooning skills, too? Remember, left hand goes to the forehead, sway once to the right...
Glad to hear mostly ok, that certainly sounds like a nasty fall. Silly, silly moo. I much prefer you in one piece.
