Non-conformist, Visionary, and Independent
3 Abstract, -1 Islamic, -5 Ukiyo-e, -7 Cubist, 2 Impressionist and -16 Renaissance!
Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of what may appear to others as visual realities. Western had been underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture.
People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform.

but I didn't get that beautiful image you've got there come up for me at all! :(
Difficult to choose, sometimes - there were some where I liked all three, and at least one where I detested all three! *g*
Some very lovely paintings included in the set, though. Definitely worth a look, so thank you!
(of course, no matter what one picks, the adjectives they use to describe every person are always going to be flattering ones .... *bg*)

It was a fun meme, wasn't it, and as you say it was quite hard to choose sometimes. Sometimes I wouldn't have picked any of them, and it might be more a reflection of my tastes against the other pics they chose that the abstract one above actually was my favourite, but... it was fun to play with art for a few minutes... *g*
How funny that you didn't get my pic come up at all - it was one of the ones that I had to choose from... Presumably the meme gives you different options, depending on your previous choices then - very clever!

Date: Wednesday, 3 November 2010 08:15 pm (UTC)I'm kind of pleased that NaNoWriMo is going well too, cos to be honest I really didn't expect it to... but I'm ahead at the moment, even though I lost 800 words some time on Monday night (all I know is that they were there when I backed up to my memory stick and my email attachment, but the next day they were gone from all three places - waaaaaah! All I can think is that I somehow Control-Z-ed my way back to a much earlier version and then saved that instead, but... but really I still don't see how. I know I wrote them, and... just... waaah! But I made them up again, and I'll go back and re-write them so that I'm happy with them again later.../rant *g*) And I know what's going to happen - I just hope it'll last for 50,000 words! It's a funny thing, though - maybe it's to do with somehow giving myself permission to concentrate on writing rather than finding a job I prefer or sorting my PhD or something... in which case I need to give myself permission to do it all the time, cos it's fun... *g*
