So we left our intrepid adventurers in Portmeirion, roaming the woods and the seashores of a faux-Italianate Welsh village...

Coming to a bend in the path, we decided to set off down the Ghost Trail, which looked lovely and shady and dappledy-light-y...

But then... something went wrong... the path got narrower, and narrower, and steeper, and less welcoming, and although we could see the way down, there was never a way back up...

...but then at last there was - a very long way indeed, that involved coming out onto a tiny path again, a great size for rabbits and other foresty-creatures. There was just us... and the mournful cries of the people behind us who'd also somehow found their way down and couldn't get back up...

Clearly the ghost trail was so named because once you set off on the way, there would be no return...

...and then at last we came out behind this sign - behind it, mind - turned around to read it, and worked out why...

*headdesk*

After that it was rather nice to wander amongst signs of civilisation again, coming closer and closer to what we knew as... somewhere to have lunch... *g*

You know, it's almost impossible to stop adding pictures of Portmeirion... but I will. *g*

Finally we took ourselves off and over a wee toll bridge, past pylons wearing rubber boots (didn't I take pictures of them? I thought I had!), past castles perched casually on hills above pebble-dashed houses, and winding, summer-y roads...

... to the house of [livejournal.com profile] jaycat92, which was a very civilised place to be and involved G&T on the lawn in the sunshine and much lazy chat, before Mr Jaycat took us all out to the local eatery for further chat over tasty veggie food... *g* Very nice! And of course when Mr Jaycat and Lads Jaycat had absented themselves later that night, we retreated to the study, land of lads and computers... *vbg*

There was, by the way, a rather fab exhibit of art on the wall by the pub, made from shiny, glittery, recycled materials - look in the top right corner by the butterfly, you can see a CD! *g*

The next day, there was just time for another yummy lunch (it's all about the food!) in ancient Montgomery, before we had to head back along summer-y roads, and back over the bridge twixt Wales and England...

And I'm sure it's only coincidence that it's always cloudy and wet when I go into Wales, and always sunny and shiny when I leave... *g*

On the bright side, when we stopped to collect my car again, there was time to say hello to our [livejournal.com profile] rosie55 before [livejournal.com profile] cornishcat headed south, and I headed east, and Rosie headed back to work...

And that's it - adventure over... until the next Pros-y time. Which will be this weekend. *g* In London...

Again, you've entertained us with your really lovely pictures. I wish I had your knack with a camera. :-)

Well thank you! I don't often think my pics are even approaching anything special, so that was really nice to hear! And heee for entertaining people - that's what blogging is, I suppose, but it sounds odd when you say it like that! *g*

It sounds fab! And I hope you did an impersonation of a white bouncing ball on the beach at Portmeirion *g*.

Lol - they were actually around the first time I visited Portmeirion, and loudspeakers blaring out across the peace - we'd happened to visit whilst a Prisoner convention was in town... I'm afraid it doesn't mean alot to me though, as I've never seen The Prisoner (though of course I know about it). I should probably remedy that one day... *g*

Oh, lovely memories of a fun-packed holiday ... and it was packed. Just look at how much we experienced in those few days. Brilliant!

Can I nab your piccies cos they're better than mine?

I bet they're not, you've a far better artistic eye than I have! We need to do a proper pic exchange... *g* But yes, do nab whatever you like, of course!

And *sighs* for happy memories - we did do alot, didn't we! I always worry that other people might get whiplash, cos I really like road-trippy-type breaks, and going from one place to another... as you might have sussed by now... *g* One day someone'll have to force me to stay in one place for a hol, and see how I get on... *g*

Here's to the next one, anyway - soon may it occur! (Well, September I guess... and I guess that is in one place for a whole week... even though I do tend to agitate for a day or two out... *g*)

It sounds like you had a great little trip, complete with nice pictures.

Do be careful going into London. :(

It was a brilliant weekend, just not long enough (even though we took two extra days off...)

I'm sure London'll be fine this weekend, though I'm glad it wasn't last weekend we were there! Thanks for the thought though - no doubt you'll hear all about it when we get back... *g*

"And I'm sure it's only coincidence that it's always cloudy and wet when I go into Wales, and always sunny and shiny when I leave..."

Don't be silly. We arrange it. We keep the sun locked up while the visitors are here, because we know it would be upsetting if we failed to conform to the rules. Wales is wet. It's in the rules.

London will be excellent, honestly.

Hee - just tradition, innit... *g*

And London will be excellent - I just always like to have a back up plan and an escape route! Come to think of it, it's one of the first things I do when I move into a new place - work out escape routes in case there's a fire or summat... *g*

I want to go to Portmeirion someday *sniff*... I watched The Prisoner when I was very, very small (although had no clue what was going on, I just liked the giant balloon).

But your pictures in general have been very fun. :D

You must go to Portmeirion one day, just cos it's gorgeous! *g* I never ever saw The Prisoner, though I know the story background, and I've seen images of course...

Glad you've liked the pics though - it's a bit like revisiting a holiday to post them afterwards, and I must get back into the habit, I've been terribly slack this last year!

Lovely pictures, all of them, but my favorite is the fourth one with the clouds. :-)

I'm all behind again... *g*

I love the cloud-y ones too... *g* My favourite is actually the one where the cloud is just boiling up from one of the twee houses! And that reminds me too that I have pics to post to [livejournal.com profile] cloudcollecting and I don't think I commented on yours the other day, and... *is behiiiind*!

And thank you!

Wow. Way late in leaving comments, I know--it's been that sort of week--but these are brilliant photos. (One day, I will get to Wales. I've a cousin I'm supposed to see when I get to Wales. But somehow, I always end up going east... *g*) I think I like the photos from the Ghost Trail best of all--gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing!

And being me I'm way late in replying to comments, but I do love that about lj, it goes on and on... *g*

You do end up in the east, don't you - you must venture out, especially cos the east is very different to the other sides and ends and corners! Portmeirion is just one of them (and gorgeous on a frosty winter's day too, which was when I first saw it... *g*)

LOL@your wander along the ghost trail - great stuff. I'd have loved that walk, too.

It was a fab walk - right down to the lost souls at the other end who'd also followed the original signs and nearly been eaten up by it! *g*
