...at long, at very long last... It's been a bit of a week, it really has. On the bright side, I have a new icon that I've been waiting since last weekend to use - annoyingly I think my lovely real-life bottle might end up staying sealed tonight, so I shall just have to luxuriate in the icon instead...
On the bright side, the night sky's been rather fab this last week - these photos are a bit rubbish, but they might remind you, if you saw it... *g*

Full moon!
Then one night, I stood marvelling at the incredible brightness of the Evening Star (did you see it this week?!), and then went around to the other side of the house and there was the moon rising - all golden and huge...

Really, the stars are never so bright that I can capture them looking like this on my wee camera without a zoom or anything!
I thought I'd be all relaxed-out after last weekend's laziness, but right now I don't want to move from this room... I'm sleeeeepy... and behind on all things lj and Pros-ish, including working out how make Kompozer work, because I almost had it the other day, but... not quite. And then I was grumpy-sleepy-face-achey for the rest of the week... So this weekend is going to be catching up, I reckon! *g* Catching up whilst still in pyjamas and barely moving from this room... But first perhaps, a quick collapse in front of t'box... *g*

Date: Friday, 13 January 2012 08:47 pm (UTC)The OH (they have their uses, esp. one with woodworking tools) cut a sheet of plywood to fit over the skylight in the bedroom. It works really well, in fact too well to use it for mornings when you have to be up with the lark.

Date: Saturday, 14 January 2012 07:19 am (UTC)Hee - I lived in Alaska for years, I can imagine when it rises at 2.34am... *g*
It's morning now, and the moon is shining through mist and the still-dark at me - I wonder if it wouldn't have woken me if I'd left my curtains open...? Which I might have, if people in the houses either side didn't leave their porch lights on all night... *sighs*
You skylights sound like another gorgeously aesthetic idea that's hell to live with - it'd be the condensation dripping that made me maddest I think. Your landlord should be responsible for fixing things like that, you know...

Date: Friday, 13 January 2012 08:50 pm (UTC)And the moon has been brilliant, it struck me particularly when I went outside about 9 on Tuesday night.
But it's still wintery and cold and dark, and that saps the energy and makes it hard to do anything but laze about indoors.

Date: Saturday, 14 January 2012 07:22 am (UTC)I really like winter, for all its different weathers - the moon is hanging over dark-morning misty fields right now - and I'm usually as full of energy as at any other time of year, but not this year... I think perhaps my face-ache needs fixing!

Date: Friday, 13 January 2012 08:55 pm (UTC)Love the icon! And your pics too - they're really good for just a wee camera. I feel so sad for people who live with the night sky swamped by street lights - it's been lush the last few nights.
And your lazing about weekend sounds pretty fine to me. Go for it - sleep, relax, recover! nail the door shut, take the phone off the hook - um, that might be my plan *g*

Date: Friday, 13 January 2012 10:04 pm (UTC)Your pics are always so good, even with a no frills camera!
It's been very cold and clear here. I should make it a point to go outside tonight and take a look.
Right now I'm watching overwintering hummingbirds on the feeder outside the window. Fortunately, it's close to the window and the food hasn't frozen, so far.

Date: Saturday, 14 January 2012 07:27 am (UTC)The moon is right now peering through a very misty morning - quite lovely, really!
Hummingbirds in your garden - how brilliant!

Date: Saturday, 14 January 2012 07:24 am (UTC)Lazing about is good - but it's odd for me that I want to do it, it's not often my thing these days, cos I effectively laze about at work all day... At the weekends I usually want to move out of a chair!
