It did, it did, it did! It was snowing before midnight, though when I had to wake up at 4am it'd stopped and all was hushed and covered...

And then when I woke up in the daylight...

So I had to go for a walk through the village, just in case it started to thaw too much (it's still there... *g*)

Loved these teasels...

And who can resist a seventeenth century church, all covered in snow...

Of course my alarm went off blaring take your pills now! so I turned for home, and spent the day marking and sleeping and so on, and now it's nighttime again - but the snow's mostly still there. It fell off the tree branches across the road, but it cloaks the ground... And tomorrow I'm still at home, so I don't even need to think about the melted-slippery bits yet. It's not nearly as colourful as my winter garden yesterday, all white and grey sky and twig-brown world, but I like it... *g*

Very pretty. Picturesque, even. :-)

It's rather monochromatic, but yes, also picturesque! *g*

I think snow is gorgeous at any time, but it's definitely nice to be in the countryside for it. Even when it makes the world almost black and white it's pretty!

i think that in general English countryside is very beautiful, or maybe I am getting older because when I was a kid I couldn't imagine living in a smaller town for the life of me and now it somehow seems more and more acceptable :))

I remember debating very hard in school when I was about 7 that it was better to live in the city than the country, and of all our class I was one of the last 2 to hold out - I only gave in because it was breaktime, and I really wanted to go outside! *g* But now I much prefer to be in the countryside... *g*

Love the picture of the graveyard in the snow. :D

I'm glad we don't have any snow down here though. It looks very pretty, but I hate the stuff, it makes me cold and anxious! I like enjoying your snow from a distance. :D

Hee - we will always have to live at opposite ends of the country!

Everything's very monochromatic, but that definitely fits the graveyard. I love how the snow put a delicate outline around the stones, and made skeletons of the trees... *g*

So pretty! I love the church and graveyard in the snow - I can almost hear the silence - well, you know what I mean!

I should have got my act together and gone out earlier, cos it wasn't quite that gorgeous silence of the snow - the world wasn't as muffled, somehow - but it was still peaceful... *sighs happily*

Ooh! Snow is magical (says the one who hardly ever has to deal with the reality of snow)!
Enjoy it and thanks for sharing it with us! It's perfect that you don't have to go into work tomorrow, though the reason for the off time is not nice.
We are currently having a spell of "freezing at night/balmy during the day" weather, with not a chance of a snowflake in the forecast.
My husband is out there pruning the fruit trees in his shirtsleeves right now.

Snow is magical, and I say that as someone who misses Alaska alot! I suspect tomorrow's going to be slippery and slide-y mind you - there was thawing today, and of course it's forecast to freeze again overnight, so I think I'll enjoy it still from home... *g*

And wow for pruning trees in shirtsleeves - I actually don't think of your part of the world as that warm, to be honest, especially at this time of year! I guess I'm wrong... *g* I hope it's banished your mudpatch though!

Warmish weather this time of the year is definitely not common around here, and even though we've had sun for a few days now, the ground is still very muddy in the backyard. No more standing water, though! :D

That does sound more as I tend to imagine - wet... I shall wish you continuing sun for a whilst, if you can't have snow! *g*

It's lovely - and the teasels are magnificent! Here, there's a lot of slush this morning, and the roads are probably treacherous with black ice, so it's probably as well you're safe and warm indoors.

The black and white effect of snow scenes is fabulous at first but if it lasts longer than a few days my eyes get desperate for colour.

Great photography!

Very late writing back - I'm sorry!

And thank you! Having a gorgeous subject helps... though I know what you mean about being desperate for some colour after a while! *g*

Beautiful photos! I especially love the yellow-lit shadows-on-the-snow nighttime one, the composition is really stunning.

What is that a shadow of, btw? I thought it must be a fence or something, but now I'm baffled! *g*

Thank you! And sorry to be so long replying...

The yellow-lit-shadows pic is actually a trellis that's reflecting away from the porch light onto the snow! It sort of makes one of the walls of the porch, though it's very rarely covered with anything. I wish my landlady would either do something with her garden, or else let me... *sighs at the wasted opportunities...*

Beautiful teasel pictures. And I especially like the countryside view that's all black and white except for the tiny splash of colour of the sign.

My SIL on the Essex coast sent us a picture from her upstairs window of about 15 cm of snow in her back garden. We're green with envy (pretty close to green with snowlessness too *G*).

Very late writing back - it's all melted now, and we're practically in double-celsius figures now! But it was pretty whilst it lasted... though seeing colour again is also nice. I'm quite looking forward to spring blossom, now!

Not strange at all - I love it when it snows, and when it's a lovely dry snow, and very cold! It's all melted now, and it's quite mild out, and I've noticed that the days have started feeling longer too... *g*
