In a wee cottage in the Dales...

I can't believe I haven't posted even once yet on this holiday - usually I'm posting every day... There's just been... stuff... Good stuff, but stuff. *g* So what's been going on? Let me try and catch up...
I suppose it all started last Thursday, when I turned my computer off at work - holidaaaaay! I collected
kiwisue from a local train later that night, and on Friday - we were off!
Friday
...after various battles with road diversions, began looking a bit like this...
Retirement job, perhaps? *g*
And then we headed for our house, and a bit of this...

...for
probodie's birthday, and a bit of the other (Pros trivia quiz, yeay!), and then we'd been in our gorgeous Pros Writing Holiday cottage for a whole night, and it was time for bed...
Saturday
...was waking up at our house...

...and then it was Christmas - a Pros-y Christmas!

There was mulled wine and Pros-y vids to start, then baked brie, cranberry sauce and french bread horses doovries accompanied by black beer and raisin wine and a little Pros-y Christmas reading. Chestnut soup, sherry and a Pros-y Christmas fic quiz, sorbet as a palate cleanser, and some Pros-y trivia questions, and then the main Christmas roast - either lamb or a festive squash jalousie, accompanied by traditional Christmas vegetables, and red or white wine according to choice... *g* A few Pros-y dilemmas completed the course... and then everyone wimped out! There should have been macadamia nut salad and a Pros Christmas song game, sweet dessert and a little more Pros-y Chrismtas reading, a cheeseboard and Pros-y drabble session, fruit and nuts and some Pros-y consequences, with brandy and mince pies to conclude... but oddly enough we just moved onto the creme brulee and an ep or two before rolling into bed... I dunno - we've not the stamina of our 19th century lads... *g*

Sunday
Sunday was a quiet day...

There was
probodie's super soup for lunch, and a wee round of trivia, and left-overs for dinner...

...and our
constant_muse had to go home - waah...
Monday
Monday looked like this...
Not bad weather for ducks, as we discovered when some of us went into Bakewell... *g*

So we cosied up in the wee pizza place that does fab garlic bites and gorgeous pesto spirals and pizza and cherry bakewell ice cream... and the bookshop that has books, and... okay, the supermarket too.
And then because it was
probodie's last night, we went to the pub (*g*) which looked very mysterious in the mist that afternoon...

And then everyone went to bed... *g*
Tuesday
Today is Tuesday... First two blokes came to fix the loo flush, then there was sitting around our table, and then - then - we lost
probodie...
...but
cornishcat made scones to console us:

...and there was a wee trip out for a walk...

...despite the cloudy dark...
and Mexican dinner (yeay
murphybabe!) and Runner, and Backtrack, and much sleepiness... *yawns*...
Tomorrow Miss Foxcat has offered to take us to visit her acquaintances at Chatsworth House, so I'd best end here... hoping that she will, of course, tell us all about it from her perspective...*g*
Also - how much Pros-y fic has been written here this year? Loooooads!

Date: Wednesday, 14 November 2012 08:54 am (UTC)It's also quite odd to be commenting on this when we are sitting in the same cottage. Are you up yet? Is the kettle on? Hang on, I'm coming downstairs...

Date: Wednesday, 14 November 2012 11:06 am (UTC)Lovely photos; those last two in particular very moody and atmospheric. You do seem to be having a great time, too! Seeing your photos makes me want to hop on a plane to the UK right now. Enjoy the rest of your stay; I hope it doesn't go too quickly.

Date: Tuesday, 20 November 2012 12:58 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, not. I won't be going over until August (the 8th through the 26th.) First, there's KiSmet, a K/S con in London, and then it's off to the North.
We had a whole week in our gorgeous house, and I want moooooooooore! *g*
I can well imagine. It's always hard to let go of fannish time together.

It all looks fabulous - I think I'm a bit in love with your cottage - and I'm amazed any of you had anything left to give after your Saturday Pros-y Crimble.
Thank you for sharing it all, even if it does make me pout *g*

Date: Monday, 19 November 2012 02:13 pm (UTC)I'm in love with our cottage too. I tried to convince the others that we should barricade the doors on Friday, but they weren't having it - in fact they were out before our 10am deadline! Overly-efficient little buggers they are sometimes... *g*
