On the 23rd of December...

...I was on holiday! Which has got to be a good start, right? *g*
So there was lazy getting up, and there was hmmn, what shall we do...?, and we actually decided on two things. The first was:

Cockington, which is just... winter in England. And may have involved pottering around craft shops, being very good and not buying a rather gorgeous Van Gogh-ish paperweight, buying a wee box of chocolates to try which did include a black olive and tomato caramel (was fine...) and also a white chocolate violet cream (was my idea of a chocolate... *g*), and then a ploughman's for lunch - yummy.
And then...

Oooh - caves! *g* These were Kents Caverns, home of a 500,000 year old cave bear (okay, now just a skull...), a bit of possibly the earliest known modern-human in the UK and some fairly cool stuff like stalagtites and stalagmites... *g* We went for the tour, and it wasn't cold, though it was dripped-on-head wet from all the recent rain, and it was ever so big and to be found right in the middle of a town, and makes you wonder what's underneath us..., which is a very cool wonder to have, I think...
And then there was sneaking into the supermarket at the proper last minute, and then being made to watch West Wing for the first time (it's quite good I guess *g*) and asparagus risotto, and some red wine.
Yeay holiday! Tomorrow it starts to be Christmas, and there will be fudge-making, and dinner-making, and Christmas-Eve-Christmas, aaaaand... potentially some red wine.
And I am so going to try to catch up with all the gorgeous posts at
discoveredinalj and
ci5hq, I really am...
Happy weekend!

Date: Monday, 24 December 2012 09:05 pm (UTC)I was amazed at how many of the recs on the LJ advent calendar I either hadn't read or had forgotten. It has been great fun! But in a way I'm sort of glad it's over so that I can catch up!

Date: Monday, 24 December 2012 02:26 pm (UTC)If I miss the beginning of a series, I find it really difficult to pick it up part way through, so there's loooooads of tv that I need to catch up on. I'm enjoying West Wing well enough, though not to fandom level... *g*
