It's still all about the sorting out (and the fretting about my car, which is still immobilised on the driveway, hoping mechanic-bloke can come up with something genius...), and tonight I picked up an old video with no label and because it's been a rainy, melancholy Sunday, I thought I'd put it in to see... and it was Northern Exposure! So now I'm all rainy and melancholy and somewhat dreamy and philosophical (no, I'm sure you can tell the difference...) I'm in the autumn days... so here are the last four of them...

Square sunset! What do you think - a perfect 92 degrees? Maybe 93? A perfect dividing line between the light of yesterday and the darkness of the oncoming night, anyway...

And look at how rainy and melancholy today was...

Chris-in-the-morning had this to say, as the drops hit my windowpane...
Rain usually makes me feel mellow: curl up in a corner time, slow down, smell the furniture. Today... it just makes me feel wet.

And on a brighter note:
It's not the thing you fling, it's the fling itself.

I didn't actually fling much today - but I'm keeping the videotape... *g*

Beautiful. How I loved Northern Exposure back in the day and what a serendipitous find! It would be fun to see that again, including the piano flinging episode. I was hearing about Alaskan archaeology this weekend. You would have loved it.

I adored Northern Exposure when it was on - even though I was cross that it replaced Thirty-Something at the time! It's still one of my favourite shows, for those moments when re-watching is just right... *g*

And ooh - I'm all curious now, which Alaskan archaeology?! I've been following a dig from the University of Aberdeen - the Nunalleq dig, by Quinhagak - on their daily blog... *sighs for digging in the tundra*

Oh no! What has happened to the car? I must have missed a post somewhere!
Has the car bloke come up with a diagnosis, yet? I hope it's a cheap and easy fix!
What rotten luck!
Very nice photos, though.
I've never seen Northern Exposure. Got lots of unlabelled old tapes lying around.
I should pop one into the old vcr, and see what happens. :)

We had brilliant weather today, and went hiking in the forest, and then for a walk on the foggy beach.
How much more time, before you are heading to the airport?

Car was immobilised! The security just wouldn't let the engine start, and none of the clues seemed to be good, and my mechanic wasn't really able to deal, and... but it might actually have turned out just to be the battery after all! This is a new development today, and there's a new one to go in tomorrow, so - crossing my fingers! You may have been my lucky-mascot here, it might indeed turn out to be (relatively) cheap and an easy fix after all!

Northern Exposure is brill - whimsical and philosophical but funny with it, totally watchable! It's still one of my favourite comfort-watches... Watching unlabelled videos is kind of fun - you should definitely try it! *g*

Forest hikes and foggy beach walks sound gorgeous - ooooh! I managed to walk through the village today, under glooming grey clouds, but it didn't rain, though it was beautifully autumn-blustery...

25 sleeps until I'm off to the airport - eeeeep! Cross fingers that my car is sorted tomorrow, I've sooooo got to sort out and pack up my storage so I can squeeze in all the stuff that's here in my crammed-in room!

Nice pics! I never got into Northern Exposure, but if I see it might give it a try. Fingers ever-so-crossed for your car, and I hope the sorting continues to go well!

You should totally give Northern Exposure a go - it's whimsical and philosophical, and funny and brilliant...

I'm hoooping car will be sorted tomorrow - crossing fingers and holding thumbs very hard...

I adored Northern Exposure but only possess Season 1 - must remedy that!! I recently read a fanfic (not Pros) that was a fusion/crossover with Northern Exposure and it made me feel nostalgic for the show!

Lovely autumn photos - as usual!!

Good luck with the car.

Oh, you must, you must remedy that! Northern Exposure is one of my all-time favourite re-watch series...

And thank you! *g* We've been all blustery-autumn today again - so mild, too!

Ooh, autumn is well underway where you are! It isn't here, not really. Most of the leaves are still on, although I came home to a path buried in them - for some reason there's a little well of stillness on our path that the wind blows all the neighbours' leave into. We swept them up and bagged them and the next day the rain began. And went on... and on... and on...

Gorgeous pics. That apple looks almost like a pear, surely? But if it's an apple, you can get all symbolic in your thinking then!

Northern Exposure is yet another of the series I missed through not having... well, it was either a television or if it was on Channel 4, then not having Channel 4. It sounds interesting though. Although since I currently still have DVDs I bought this time last year, and I still haven't watched them, I had better be sensible about this.

Well, the smaller trees have got their autumn on, and the poorly chestnuts around the church, but the big trees just across from my window are only just beginning to think about turning, so it's something of a mixed bag. We started out with rain this morning to, but although it stayed grey and lowery all day, it stuck to autumn-blusterishess, which I like. And mild! So mild!

The apple does look almost like a pear, but it wasn't - it was definitely an apple tree... Although once I took my head out of the branches trying to get the right angle for this one, I realised that they were all actually at the very end - kind of mildewy and decayed, in fact!

Northern Exposure was on Channel 4 I think - and it was just when I was teaching and cohabiting and so coincided perfectly with needing to crash in front of late night telly before bed. It's a very cool series - philosophical and whimsical and funny and generally very good. Stick it on your one-day-if-I-remember list and you won't go wrong...

Pretty pics!

Three days in, I'm bored of torrential rain now. I don't mind getting wet usually, but soaked to the skin within 30 seconds of leaving the house is a bit much, really. *le sigh*

Thank you! It can be a pretty pictureskew village really... *g*

Eeep for three days of rain - that's definitely an advantage of this side of the place. We've had it on and off, and Sunday was pretty much on, but it stopped mid-morning here, and we just had blustery, really mid weather... Hope it reaches you like that and you get a let-up!

Rainy, melancholy Sundays, curled on the sofa with a book or tv - doesn't get much better than that, really.

It really doesn't! I would so have liked to enjoy it, instead of being all fretful about my car! Mind you, the end few hours where I watched back-to-back Northern Exposure wasn't bad at all... *g*
