I'd never done a reading challenge until I took part in the Once Upon a Time challenge this year, and I enjoyed it so much that I thought I'd have a go at Carl V. Anderson's RIP Challenge too. I've been quite looking forward to it - there's been a hint of autumn in the air, which is my favourite time of year, and this seems just right... *g* Plus it'll be something to take my mind off the whole new-house-this-is-weird thing - at least that's partly the plan... *g* And thank you [livejournal.com profile] read_warbler for the heads up!

I've signed up for:
2014RIP-PerilTheFirstBanner
- which is: Read four books, any length, that you feel fit (the very broad definitions) of R.I.P. literature. It could be King or Conan Doyle, Penny or Poe, Chandler or Collins, Lovecraft or Leroux…or anyone in between.

I do actually have a few books lined up (not actually to hand now that everything is squeezed into a zillion bags and crammed into my new room, but that's a technicality - I know they're there somewhere), and I'm looking forward to joining my new library and finding more. I must admit that I've already treated myself to a wander around my new (but wee) local Waterstones, and a new DuMaurier book that I think will fit...

So - two months of spooky readings, from 1st September until (of course) All Hallow's Night... wish me luck! *g*

Yay for signing up! It's always a lot of fun this one. Which Daphne du Maurier did you buy?

Yeay! *g*

The House on the Strand - according to the blurb it's written in the great tradition of Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft - and there's time travel... *g*

Ooooh! The House on the Strand is one of my favourite DdMs. I read it about ten years ago and loved it to bits. I could do with rereading it to be honest. Hope you enjoy it!

I seem to be heading in that direction, though just on my own. It's sort of cool, doing a lot of spooky reading as All Hallow's approaches.

I've accidentally been reading spooky stories already - didn't even realise they were (some Lord John Grey ones), but I'm going to start properly now I've (sadly) finished them... It is rather a cool thing to do as Halloween approaches! Well, as we approach Halloween, I suppose really... *g*

Wonderful to have you in, and I'm so glad you enjoyed Once Upon a Time as well. I hope you get some wonderful reading done over the next few months as we celebrate Autumn.

Thank you! I can't think why I haven't thought of doing something like this before... thank you for running the challenge!
