The trouble with Wednesday is that it's Wednesday - you can see freedom from there, but there's all the drudgery to get through first. Tuesday's even worse, though if you're lucky you can snag onto some of Monday's freshness. Thursday... well, now you can just about see the weekend, like catching the scent of the seaside on the air before all that blue sparkle comes into view... *g*

So I will try the Virtual Office again today, despite two days of disaster-feeling (I am actually up to date for my deadline, it just didn't feel as if I was yesterday). But I shall format my day a little differently, I think.

I also woke up realising that it was all wrong that I'm not currently planning a trip somewhere. I haven't for ages, and I should. Actually I do have some trips coming up, all to London, which I can start planning (one of them around a Job 2 course, but the other for a weekend of chat and chilling out in London!). I have a wine course voucher from my brother to use up - trouble is, it's an evening's tasting etc., based in Cambridge, where I'm not any more. But I should just book it and go, cos that'll be different too. And I've taken a week off in May of course. The trouble with that is that I need to renew my passport and my right to abode before I can go jaunting off anywhere too exotic, and before Job 2 craziness kicks off. Job 2 craziness will of course use up all of June and July really, but then... I did say I wanted to get to Alaska this year, if my long-suffering mate is a) still there, and b) still speaking to me. Maybe I can incorporate a bit of wandering into that... *g*

And then I realised that I didn't have anything planned for this weekend except The Voice at 7pm on Saturday and Poldark at 9pm on Sunday, and maybe I should see if I can find something more exotic to do then

Right.

1. Reading The Book Thief - I'm supposed to be finished for book group tonight, but it didn't grab me I started reading, and so I didn't pick it up often enough. I'm nearly 70% through though...
2. Fiddle practice
3. Riverford delivery put away
4. Worked out the right-aligned picture thing, with the writing formatting around it rather than above and below it - thanks [livejournal.com profile] owned_by_a_cat!
5. Replied to attend Lunch Club talk thingie on 16th
6. Visited [livejournal.com profile] milomaus's desk...
7. Work! 10.30-11.20 (5 pages, pretty solid work. Suppose that's just how long this one takes...)
8. A wee wander of other desks... And it's World Book Day! Other people's desks are so much more interesting than mine... *g*
9. Write Pros - yeay, Part 4 written! I do like managing at least a bit of writing every day...
10. Snack and The Book Thief 414/560...
11. Work! 12.30-1.50. 11 pages, 32/43 - much better pace! Lunch now...
12. And stopping by a few desks, and to chat at my own... *g*)
13. Lunch and The Book Thief. 497/560 - maybe I will do this!
14. Fiddle practice.
15. Work. 3.15-4.15. 42/42.
16. Download future assignment.
17. Hacktrack mile walk. Fresh air! Sunshine!
18.Break - The Book Thief - Finished! All the way to 5.40pm, but finished!
19. Work! 0/28-8/28
20. Bookgroup.

A friend in Portugal lent me The Book Thief and I felt obliged to read it. (I hadn't asked for it...) I admired it but didn't like it. I'll be interested to hear your opinions! I'm reading yet another in the Merrily Watkins series of supernatural/crime stories set in Herefordshire - my current addiction.

Oh, I had a big phase of reading the Merrily Watkins books! She annoyed me a little bit (such a cool priest, all rebellious with her smoking and all - I hate it when authors make that the sign of their character's strength (even though it's technically supposed to be their weakness, it's always about showing how human and fallible-but-able-to-meet-the-world-anyway they are... *g*

I suspect we might actually agree to some extent about The Book Thief, from what you've said so far - though because that never happens with you and me and books, maybe we have different reasons! *g* I'll definitely post about it, and be interested to hear what you thought then too!

Merrily herself often irritates me! I am fascinated by the locations, which I have known quite well all my life - and by the potrayal of the Church of England (I'm a vicar's daughter).

It was partly the locations that drew me too - Rickman does a good job with them. I can't remember if I knew you were a vicar's daughter - do you think the books measure up, then? *g*

And oh, just remembered - the author, Phil Rickman, wrote what are a couple of my favourite books last year, the Doctor Dee books. Have you seen those? I actually found them when I was allowed to buy myself a book but nothing struck me on browsing the shelves. I often turn to old favourites then, in the hope that they have something new out - and he did, and it was well worth it!

Yes, the books measure up!! I think it's one of the things that drew me to them! I identify with Jane, even more than half a century on!! *g*

I saw the Doctor Dee books on his page in Amazon but hadn't done anything about them yet - good to know they're worth a read; I like his writing style. I'll probably try them sooner or later.

He's got a pretty easy-reading style, I found. A touch of the Hollywoods, but not enough to make him not worth reading. *g*

I found The Book Thief booorrringg. I read the first 20 pages or so and couldn't force myself to continue. *bad kat*

I had to finish it because I knew my friend would ask my opinion...

Huh - I wouldn't call it boring, but it felt distant to me as I was reading, and I prefer my characters up close. Too much authorial insertion for my liking - even if the author was Death! *g* I almost didn't bother finishing, but I'm not sorry that I made the effort to keep going, and I didn't dislike it - I really would have stopped if that had been the case!

Your days are looking pretty productive to me *g* - and ooh, London? Maybe a chance to cross paths? Crossing my fingers!

And yet I should be working right now, and here I am replying to comments... *g*

Paths could certainly be crossed - I'll drop you an email!

Stopping by for a quick visit, before going off to do houseworkey things.
But you might be off on your mile-long walk right now!
We have cold, crisp, sunny weather and it's supposed to warm up from below freezing over night to the mid 60s later on.

It must be hard to stay disciplined with work all by yourself!
It's great that you get fiddle practice and a little writing done in between! :)

Morning! I was on my walk, then I came back to finish The Book Thief for book group tonight, although what I really should have been doing was getting on with this assignment, cos it draaaaaags, and I don't want to have to do extra tomorrow...

It's been fun getting some writing done this last week, even if it's not been too much. But two Pros stories completed via the Virtual Office, so that's not bad. *g*

Have a lovely day in the sunshine, it sounds lush, houseworky things or none!
