...mumblemumblegrumblelatemumbleblargh...
I really must not stay up until 1.30am... I thought I'd go to bed early last night, but then I got writing the next bit of the round robin, and just sort of kept going...
Two inspirations today though - one a continuation of yesterday's, because
milomaus translated an article about our lads from German for me (yeay!), and then we made sense of it together, cos it was probably translated from English to German to start with (*g*), but here it is - yeay! (You can click through the pic to make it bigger again)
Lewis the Marriage Grouch
Lewis would look good in front of any registrar in this suit, and he already has a matching companion for it, his fiancee Marion Sheffield. But marriage isn't for Lewis. "I don't want to get married. Most marriages don't stick."
Lewis The Gunman
Heartbreaker Lewis not only shoots as a professional, but also in private. Shooting is traditional for him. As a twelve year old boy he became a member of the Liverpool Gun Club, inspired by his aunt who was a champion in pheasant shooting. Pistol shots, albeit in the air, resulted in negative headlines recently when he wanted to chase two female intruders from his house.
Martin the Environmentalist
Since Guru Singh taught him meditation, Martin feels engaged with and responsible for the environment. He is a supporter of the Save the Whales campaign (whose t-shirt he is wearing here) and Greenpeace. Whenever possible Martin uses his fame to protect nature.
Martin the Music Fan
Unlike Lewis Collins, he has never played in a pop band, but Martin loves rock music more than anything. His favourite bands are Dire Straits, Pink Floyd and Joan Armatrading. His plan to produce a record himself was thwarted when he broke his kneecap. Martin was supposed to record music from the stage musical "They're Playing Our Song", in which he was playing, but the accident threw him out of the ensemble and so the project didn't go ahead.
Martin the Musical Star
Martin played with Gemma Craven on the stage of the London Shaftesbury Theatre in the musical "They're Playing Our Song". He also gets along marvellously with the good looking actress in private - but always honourably! The times of Martin the beguiling womaniser are gone.
What else today, before the inglorious roundabout that is work starts? (It's definitely Wednesday when the rot sets in, you know...) It doesn't help that I finished reading The Grass is Singing just now, for book group tonight - relentless is a good way to describe it, I think. Amazingly written - you can feel every despairing moment and minute and hour and week and lifetime... and we have to remember lives like that sometimes, but... Quick - happy things! Okay, that was going to be Pros, but actually... Tripod! *vbg*... so not conducive to work though. So much prettier than the Top Gear guys, and I strongly suspect they don't go around treating people like shit, so even more bonus points... *g* Sorry, where was I... oh, yeah. Work...

Date: Thursday, 6 August 2015 01:04 pm (UTC)How's it going today?
No beach yet, somehow we can't get ourselves going, but we made plans for the rest of our holidays...

Date: Thursday, 6 August 2015 02:22 pm (UTC)Sometimes holidays are for not getting going, so I hope you had a nice time doing that today too! I'm still looking forward to the Viking market... *g* Oh, and your sunshine this morning! I've not caught up on my replies yet, but it was so beautiful to see when I grumpily turned on my laptop this morning - thank you!
You know, looking at your photo up above too, I think it's such a huge thing to have lost - that sense when you were a kid on your bike (or reading or climbing a tree or balancing on a fence or whatever) that time was for exactly that and not anything else... Being grown up is all about waiting for the next thing that we have to do... Not a groundbreaking thought, I admit, but I think your photo captures it perfectly!
