What's this? Another post? Yup! *vbg* I'll be caught up before... well, possibly not, but I'm heading in that direction. So - Wednesday!

Today was a roadtrip with [livejournal.com profile] firefly1311 and [livejournal.com profile] dragonfly1311 road took us...

...out of Germany...
2016-11-02 03Bis bald 2016-11-02 04France
...and into France!

We crossed the Maginot Line, which was interesting for me, having taught about it for years and years (many years ago!)

...and more pretty signs for towns.

And eventually we were in the rather pretty town itself, of Strasbourg, in Alsace, France! We didn't even have to stop at the border either, just drove through, and there we were - (well done, UK government and Brexiters...) The first thing I saw was...

...which I reckoned was a good sign of interesting things!

Of course there were also pretty streets, and rooves... *g*

Astronomical clock! I got to see the astronomical clock!

Death rang the bell, and everyone paraded in front of Jesus, and the cock crowed. Fab!

More rooves!

And down below...

More signs.

Including a stork - Alsace is famous for them, and I even saw two real ones in a field as we went past, so yeay. *g*

Lunchtime!

We had the local speciality - tarte flambe!

After-lunch wander...

Finally - do you remember that we saw the second-biggest wine barrel at Heidelberg Castle the other day? Well - we pulled into a carpark to find some coffee on the way home, and there it was - the biggest wine barrel! So big that they made it into a restaurant!

It was such a nice day with [livejournal.com profile] firefly1311 and [livejournal.com profile] dragonfly1311, chatting about everything - and Pros. *vbg* So nice to meet them after all these years on lj, and they are both excellent tour-guides too! *g*

And wheee for catching up with two posts in a day! Lots of pictures I know, but hopefully not too boring. I figure that anyone who doesn't want to look just won't look. *g* But that's definitely enough today - bed time! Tomorrow (the real tomorrow) we're off to Munich zoo, and a special treat... *vbg*

Wonderful pics!
I love Strasbourg and that French-German atmosphere typical of Alsace (and tarte flambée ain't bad either *g*). I was there over ten years ago, staying in Baden Baden (and enjoying the hot thermal baths at 39 degrees, when it was -1 outside being January *g*), and then crossing into France back & forth on the train over the Rhine.
I love those pretty road signs too :)

Thank you! It's all so pretty and wonderful - everyone should see it! *g*

Some day, I'll try and make it to some of the things you have seen in Germany! *g*

I've been to Heidelberg and Schloss Neuschwanstein, but most other attraction are still on the list.

Beautiful pictures!

The Munich Zoo is pretty fantastic. I spent a whole day there the summer before last.
Can't wait to hear about the special treat!

I think the same thing about Australia - some day perhaps I'll see the things other people go there to see! *g* And thank you - Germany makes beautiful pictures easy... *g*

Looking forward to the zoo today - and the special treat!

Wow, lots of things to see. Always works out better when you have someone who lives in the area. *g* And a bonus, talking about Pros! Love the photos, but my favorites, of course, are of the cathedral.

It's always nice to have a local guide, definitely - and even better with added Pros! *g* So nice to wander and chat. And thank you! You'd like Germany - many many palaces and cathedrals and castles (of one kind or another!)

It all looks so wonderful - I love the cathedral pics, and the shops, and the food, and the signs... I'll shut up now *g*

Turns out France is beautiful too (okay, I knew that already *g*) - even just this little corner, which is also partly Germany (stoopid politics telling people who they are and aren't when we're usually all more than one thing).

Never shut up!

Crikey! Even in Germany, you manage to find nice sunsets. There is definitely a lot to be said for looking up (and not just to see the dragons and unicorns.)

The sun sets very beautifully in many places, it's true... *g* I wonder if it's partly because an art teacher once told us at school that sunsets were very boring (I appreciate that she'd probably been presented with lots and lots over her years), when I never thought they were at all. I'm now determined to prove to everyone that they're not! *g*

There's something rather sad about an art teacher being disinterested in sunsets. :-(
Well done on proving your old teacher so spectacularly wrong. :-)

I guess she'd seen so many painted as an excuse to avoid painting something that might be harder, that she couldn't bear it any more... but perhaps that's all the more sunsets for the rest of us... *g*

Thank you! I loved the clock - although I like many clocks, I have to say. And thanks! *g*
