Pics today especially for [livejournal.com profile] milomaus... it's the seaside!

Today I set off down little flowered roads...

...and found sea and springtime and a bit of sunshine!

And bluebell woods...

This was my lunchtime view, over the wee river harbour of this village, and across to the nineteenth century lime kilns.

Back down along the coast, and a lovely long beach walk...

I can't resist a good cave... *g*

Another beach!

And then, where I parked my car - a slash pond! I had to go and look
- well, it caught my eye... *g*

No lads, just water and birds singing... (turns out it's from mining times...)

I am so sleepy that I can't write anything much - suffice to say that Blue Car and I had a lovely wander up the coast, and it didn't rain at all! The sun was even warm enough that I took off my shirt once or twice. *g*

And today's ice cream (because I'm on holiday, you understand, so there must be ice cream) was banana and toffee - and very nice too!

Ohh, such beautiful sights, such scenery, thank you so, so much, I love it!
Looks like you crammed as much beach and sea into your day as possible, wonderful!

There was lots of beach and sea — I had to get the lay of the land on my first real day, and the land was laying sea-ways... *g*

I *love* all of these pictures, especially the flowery roads and the lovely, long, sandy beach (I love walking alongside the sea). And when you get some sunshine it's a bonus.

It's been soooo long since I've walked by the proper sea — this is really lovely, just for that!

I have more pics from today, before the sunshine will apparently vanish into gales and heavy rain tomorrow. I'm assuming caravans can survive gales perfectly well...!!

I hope your caravan survived and that you had a good birthday!

(I don't think it's appeared on your flist but thought I'd let you know that melanieathene also wished you a happy birthday.)

Did your travels take you anywhere near Marloes, by any chance? My gt-grandmother was from there. She and my gt-gt-grandparents spent some years living and working on a farm on Skomer Island, and I often think what a culture shock it must have been for her to swap that for the teeming streets of North London in the 1870s!

Oh, they haven't yet, but that's just down the road the other way! Forecast-gales- depending, I was hoping to explore that way next! Skomer Island has also just been recommended to me as my next boat-trip... *g*

Definitely a big change from around here to North London in the 1870s... Also, I had gt-gt-something-grandparents in London in the 1870s myself - come down from Scotland... All our people, walking around the same places at the same time... (okay, London was big, but still... *g*)

If you do manage the boat trip over to Skomer you'll see the farmhouse and farm buildings where my family lived and worked.

I've never done the trip myself (in fact I've never even set foot in any part of Wales!) but it's definitely on my bucket list. I know that the cottage in Marloes where my gt-grandmother was born is still standing so seeing that is high up on my list too!

What lovely photos! But you should take some of the caravan and your campsite. :-)

Thank you!

And hee — I'll try and post some caravan/campsite pics just for you! Although they may be gale-and-rain-swept if I take them tomorrow... *g*

Absolutely beautiful. Wonder what 'slash' means in mining parlance *g*

Hope your whole day has been and continues to be as beautiful as these! (um, see separate message :-) )

Hee - well now I'm imagining our lads undercover down in a mine somewhere... all smudged with coal dust, and... *g*

And yeay separate message — thank you! *g* I'm going to be a day late reporting on it, as I decided I had to take advantage of the decent weather and stay out as long as I could today... tomorrow I'll be cosy in the van and post pics! *g*
