So, I saw this picture...

...when I was cruising the 'net (looking for Lancastar bombers, but that's another story...), and of course I had to see the whole vid - which is all about CERN, which is a very cool thing. Plus Barrowman... *g*

See - cool, right? Sometimes you just have to give in to the geekery...*g*

Are you a Lanc fan too? Must admit that planes don't usually grab my imagination very much (unlike my other 'alf who is very keen on them and who, incidentally, was insanely jealous when I told him about you volunteering at Duxford!) but the Lanc's a different matter. We took JD's Dad (ex-RAF Regiment) to RAF Coningsby to see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight about ten years ago and as soon as I laid eyes on the Lanc I was besotted. Couple of years later it made an appearance at the Sunderland Air Show and had to fly right over our house - I remember JD shrieking "It's the Lanc!" as we heard the distinctive drone of the engines. We dashed outside in time to see it fly directly overhead, and I'm rather sheepish to admit that I choked right up and burst into tears!

Tell you what, if Jim'll Fix It was still on I'd be writing asking him to fix it for me to go up in it. An ambition that I know I'll never realise, sadly...

I like planes in general (*g*), WWII ones especially... I'm not sure I've seen the Lanc flying yet - I think the BBMF one is the only one in the UK, the only other airworthy one is in Canada apparently...

And, weirdness of weirdness, I was reading Unpro 1 today, and there's a story in there about Pros and Lancaster bombers!!! Isn't it funny how things just all come together?!

There's something like a four year waiting list to fly in the Grace Spitfire - and it costs an absolutely phenomenal amount, so I can imagine the Lanc is even worse... I shall cross my fingers for you - you never know, maybe you'll bump into the pilot, and he'll be allowed to... well, I dunno, but you never know!
