Pros Meme...
Tuesday, 20 September 2011 02:17 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
...because this week is terribly Pros-less compared with last week... More Pros, please! Gacked from
solosundance - I did it! I did it! *g*

1. How did you discover the Professionals?
I don't remember specifically, but I watched it when it was originally aired (in Australia), and it must have been from quite early on because I don't remember thinking that any of the stories in the novelisations were new, when I found them when I was... in Year 9? Or was it Year 10? It was whilst I was off at work experience, anyway, and I especially wanted the novelisation that had Discovered in a Graveyard in it... Then years (and years) later I came across the dvds when I was making a list for Lovefilm, fell in love with them all over again, googled and found Kitty Fisher's website, and Pros slash! Wheeee!
2. Favourite character
Doyle really, in that I empathise with him and am interested in him... and isn't he bendy...? *g*
3. Least favourite character
Murphy - I'm sorry, he just is! Maybe if he wasn't always their bestest friend in fic I'd not mind him, cos he's really just a lump of not-much, but... gargh!
4. Favourite episode
Oh, so tricky... I've a nostalgic fondness for Discovered in a Graveyard, and there's something about Runner that draws me, but then there's the eternal beauty of Purging, and Mixed Doubles, so...?
5. Least favourite episode
Close Quarters - it's just not our lads, and it's especially not our lads together, which is what I love Pros for...
6. Best Cowley moment
Hmmn - in what sense, though... Oh, perhaps at the end of SoTM, where he reveals that he's successfully broken the the misappropriation racket that's baffled my Department and yours and Defence sales for months?
7. Best Bodie moment?
The gleeful look in his eyes in Runner, when he and Doyle have both tried to make a run for it, been shot at and had to dash back to safety! Well, any of his mischievous moments, actually... *g*

8. Best Doyle moment
Too many, again... maybe in Purging when he's disarming the telephone, and Bodie says he feels like the boy with his finger in the dyke - and Doyle glances up at him and there's something more than just deadly serious in his voice when he says "That's just what you are, mate, you keep it stuck there..." *sighs happily* Or the moment just before where he's gone racing to Bodie's rescue, gun drawn and wide awake, only to find Bodie rolling his eyes at him - "What's happening?" he says, oh-so-casually... *g*
9. Best female guest star
Esther, from Takeaway - she's clearly a highly competent agent in her own force, and gives back as good as she gets from Doyle!
10. Favourite moment from S1
Too many, too many... erm... in Female Factor, when Doyle gets the phone call, and Bodie can't keep his eyes off him, despite his girl's best attempts... Or all the gorgeous Stakeout moments...
11. Favourite moment from S2
How in the world d'you choose from Season 2? Almost any moment with Marge Harper in it... the moment in Runner when Duffy drops down and catches Doyle from behind - the expression on Doyle's face as he freezes and knows... Oh, or the fractured eyelast from ItPI, or any of the B/D scenes in Doyle's flat, in Hunter/Hunted, or... *g*
12. Favourite moment from S3
Just as difficult to chooooose... the night time scene in Mixed Doubles? Or any of our B/D scenes in Purging? Bodie's relief at finding Doyle in Slush Fund? Or...?
13. Favourite moment from S4
Hmmn... it must come from Discovered in a Graveyard, surely, perhaps when Bodie's found Doyle in his flat, and there's this silence between them, Bodie stonily frantic, Doyle surely knowing that he's there, feeling Bodie's hands on him...
14. Favourite moment from S5
Season 5? I am not mucking around with working out what people long-ago watched once as something called S5 - dvd production order = please see above! *g* (Plus dvd production order means you can follow them along properly chronologically, rather than watching their hair bounce up and down in length etc... *g*)
15. A scene that makes you laugh
Ha - should have remembered this question was here earlier, cos it's this one again: the moment in Purging where Doyle's gone racing into Bodie's flat when Bodie demands he "Get up here!", gun drawn, all wide awake and regulation bursting into the flat to find the danger, only to find Bodie rolling his eyes at him. "What's happening?" he says, ever-so-casually... Makes me giggle every time... *g*
Oh, or in Stakeout, trying to figure out how to bowl - How'd you score? - Dunno, I just get lucky I guess... *g*... then a moment later - How should I know? Just add up the one you knocked down. - heeee! *sighs happily*
16. A scene that makes you cry
Well none of them make me cry, cos I'm all grown up now, but Bodie's frantic stony silence in DiaG is always rather heart-wrenching...
17. A scene you rewind to watch over again and again
The one where they're walking up the gangplank in Hunter/Hunted - I'm sure I could see just a bit more of what Bodie does to make Doyle turn around to him like that, if only I looked just a bit harder... *g* The scene in the icon
crimson_37 made for me has the same effect, mind...

See? It's very... watchable, innit... forwards or backwards... *g*
18. Favourite quote
Social revolution... - What's that got to do with dirt? - Growing up. I mean, all kids make a mess when they're growing up. Don't they?
I love it when Pros is smart - it was never just a dumb cop show... *g*
19. Favourite supporting character
Benny! Benny's brilliant - he's got his own thing going on and he stands up to the lads, even when he's saying he's sorry for having let Parker give him the slip - I'm terribly sorry!... *g*
20. Best villain
Duffy, from Runner - love his single-minded psychotic drive to get Doyle...
21. Favourite pairing
There's only one... our Bodie/Doyle... *sighs happily*
22. Favourite moment with your pairing
Oh, another of those impossible questions... any moment when they're touching, really... Doyle with his arms wrapped around Bodie in Close Quarters (so that he has to be shrugged off?)? A similar scene in the back of the ambulance (in the ep I can't remember no matter how many times someone tells me... is it Blackout? Bodie's hands all over Doyle in Stakeout? Or any moment they're just looking at each other and getting it...
23. Favourite weapon
Doyle
24. Best "move" in a fight
When Doyle rolls himself onto the baddie's back and then pushes off against a wall... can't remember the ep, but it's featured in Ancastar's The Warrior vid!
25. Favourite outfit
Oh, the t-shirts and jeans they both wear in Mixed Doubles? Or the Female Factor evening outfits...?
26. Whose shoes would you like to step into (on the show)?
Someone who was there all the time, watching them... *g*
27. If you could meet any ONE actor, who would it be?
Not sure I really want to meet any, cos what I really would like to do is watch them together, even if it was just talking, cos you know there'd still be that chemistry... and as we know now, MS at least is still thinking of LC... *vbg*
28. What is your favourite fan fiction story? (link if possible)
Either Voice-Over by Elizabeth O'Shea or The Larton Chronicles by Rhiannon... or even Facets: Stolen Moments ii by Maggie Hall... what d'you mean that's cheating...? *g*
29. Who is your favourite fan fiction author? (link if possible)
Oh, again... Rhiannon? Helen Raven? Oh, but it depends on my mood, and what I want to read...
30. What is the best alternate universe? (link if possible)
This one's a bit easier - sort of - The Larton Chronicles by Rhiannon... except that I also adore Lizzie's Birdwatcher's Guide to Cornish Ghosts... oh, or Helen Raven's The Cook and the Warehouseman, and...
*sighs happily and returns to work feeling somewhat better...*

Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 03:25 pm (UTC)'Favourite weapon: Doyle' squee!
All very interesting, esp. 3. Murphy. I agree he can be overdone in fic (what annoys me most is when he is portrayed as Irish), but it's not Murphy's fault he has so little to do or say - actually he is quite vocal in Ojuka...
This is exactly how we should be spending the time, focusing on the important things. I so want to do this meme now.

Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 05:26 pm (UTC)Yeay the important things! Please do do the meme, I want to read everyone's answers! *g*

Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 04:03 pm (UTC)Murphy - I'm sorry, he just is! Maybe if he wasn't always their bestest friend in fic I'd not mind him, cos he's really just a lump of not-much, but... gargh!
Lol, yeah, I agree totally. I've never understood the attraction to highlight him in fic. Especially when he's paired with Bodie or Doyle.
9. Best female guest star
Esther, from Takeaway - she's clearly a highly competent agent in her own force, and gives back as good as she gets from Doyle!
And just the opposite on this one. *g* Maybe if she hadn't cried but, girl, have some pride. And I really thought the entire situation completely unprofessional (no pun intended.)
Very interesting answers!
no subject
Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 05:28 pm (UTC)And awww for Esther - I'd rather she hadn't cried at the end too, but you could see her trying not to, and to keep their relationship light all the way through... she can't help having had the good taste to fall for Doyle... *g* Who was also entirely unprofessional in sleeping with her! *g*
Might I hope that you might have a go at the meme too...? *g*

Might I hope that you might have a go at the meme too...? *g*
Oddly enough, I did do it but for Star Trek TOS, even though I mostly saw it being done in UNCLE. Hmm, maybe I'll do it for all three. *g*

Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 05:21 pm (UTC)Yeah, the S5 thing... I just went with the flow on that while scrabbling moronically through my DVDs wondering what I was missing..
Love your favourite weapon, and your description of Doyle as having his arms wrapped round Bodie in CQ... that one I'll take away with me thank you :D
no subject
Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 06:16 pm (UTC)Excellent meme, thank you - and you take Doyle wrapping his arms around Bodie with you at any time... *vbg* And then send 'em back this way... Hmmn, maybe we should make that a wee challenge, I could stand reading fic like that... *g*
no subject
Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 06:52 pm (UTC)Doyle
Aww me too! *g Love that.
Can't remember... what's Close Quarters? Where is there an arms-wrapped-around scene? Maybe it's because I have a cold, argh. OTOH, I seem to remember very well when Bodie patted Doyle on the bum (and I'm the gen girl, right???).
I don't know if I could pick favorite scenes/eps yet because I haven't seen all of the show. But I really enjoyed reading yours!
no subject
Date: Wednesday, 21 September 2011 01:49 pm (UTC)You're very restrained, not having watched all the eps yet - it was all I could do, once I got my hands on them! *g*
no subject
Date: Thursday, 22 September 2011 02:37 am (UTC)Yeah, I should watch that ep again. I only watched it once, not my favorite because there's not enough Doyle, and only that ONE moment of partner-worry. I didn't remember he actually got his arms round Bodie; definitely need to rewatch. And I think Bodie sort of shoves him away then? (Augh. There's just not the level of h/c and partner worry that I want in that one!!)
As for restraint... welllll, it's more of a level of anxiety. I watched them relentlessly and speedily once I first got them... and then slower and slower once I neared the end because I don't want to 'run out.'
I think it's a bit silly but I hate the thought of having no more and honestly have to force myself to watch the last episode of any show I love. I've done it before, and I'll probably do it again... (I still have one Pete Duel episode left from ASJ that I haven't watched in all this time.)
I'm sure there's something psychologically weird about that, but for now I just sort of go with it...

Date: Tuesday, 20 September 2011 11:35 pm (UTC)I'm glad you couldn't only go with one choice for each question!
And all those links! Facets: Stolen Moments? Doesn't ring a bell, so it goes on the list to read. :)
Let me join the "I don't get Murphy in fanfic" club. He just always seemed bland and slightly incompetent to me in the episodes, and in many stories, he is just all around perfect, either as friend, lover, agent. He steps back without a fuss, when Bodie decides he'd rather have Doyle, and so on.
He seems to be the first choice, whenever another agent is needed. Maybe it's because he was in a number of episodes, and climbed the chimney with Bodie.

Date: Wednesday, 21 September 2011 01:40 pm (UTC)Eeeeh that you've not read Stolen Moments, I've been reccing it like mad, especially since it came online, so... *g*
I think you're right about Murphy, and I suspect the rumours that he was going to replace Doyle helped his mythology along, but... but I'd swear he's really a Mary-Sue character in so many fics - eeep!
