I have to go out of order! I've missed 311-313, but you know I've taken the pics, and they're fab Germany pics, and I'll come back and post them, but I had lots of work to do today, and I woke up late, and I've only just caught up, and... yep, I'm home!

And oh my... caught my plane with no worries last night. The plane was full, but except for myself and maybe five other women, it was entirely businessmen! None of them could be bothered waiting for luggage, so they'd all brought the biggest cabin-luggage they could, which meant those of us with ordinary-sized bags etc. were pressed for space - luckily I did manage mine just above me. And talk about pushy! None of this 19th century chivalry (or what we in the 21st century just call good manners) for them - except with the sexy businesswoman in high heels and a trouser suit, who you could see them watching! - and who took full advantage. So I took huge pleasure in collecting my hold-luggage really quickly and striding past them all at passport control when we arrived, and straight through the non-EU passport channel (except that even then one of them snuck over from the EU passport line and pushed in front of me without even looking! He was the bloke who got up at the front of the plane immediately after we'd been told not to on arrival, too...)

The next thing was that it was chucking down with rain! Found the bus back to my carpark, but the driver didn't actually tell us when we left one carpark and entered the next, so I missed my stop and had to walk back (in said rain, of course) - and when I asked him which carpark we were in, the only thing the miserable bugger said was "well you didn't ring the bell"! Honestly, talk about a country living down to expectations - hey honey, you're home!

But hey-ho - and there was my car, and it started, and off I went! There was rain alllll the way down to Somerset, but just as I'd planned for a trip down the motorway, which my sat-nave usually defaults to, it took me down the A-roads instead, so I missed my chance to pick up some M&S food for today at a service station, but I did get to drive through absolute carpets of golden leaves on the road, which was a bit surreal but cool. *g*

And my annexe was still standing (though a very chilly 11C), and I faffed around putting things away for a while to wind down from for-gods-sake-stay-alert-and-don't-crash! and then I went to bed and crashed out at around 2.30am - and didn't wake up until 10.30am this morning. Eeep!

And then eventually I remembered what had been happening last night apart from me getting home, and I checked the papers, and... ohmigod... Just when I thought the world of politics couldn't get much more depressing, and that surely no country could be as stupid as the UK had been over Brexit... Here's hoping that all those Republicans who were also voted in can exert some measure of control over Trump...

Oh yeah - and winter arrived while I was away!

Though no snow down here - it looks so pretty up north!

Welcome back! The weather's been turning more chilly autumn-y/wintery in Italy too this week. I'm glad you had a nice holiday. Yep, what a gloomy depressing election result last night. The Guardian had an excellent editorial that sums up pretty accurately what I feel... :(

Thank you! Such a lovely holiday - I miss it! *g*

And yeah, that's a depressing but accurate editorial - I think we all need to be a bit worried. I'm trying to think of ways that I can react more practically than just by worrying, to help prove to other people who need to know that not everyone in the world thinks that Trump/Brexit/intolerance etc. is acceptable...

I'm glad you arrived home savely!
And had some time to post.

Looking forward to the missing posts! *gg*

Hallo! *g* Yesterday was a bit manic, what with oversleeping and then desperately trying to catch up in time to go to writing group (which I didn't, and worked when I got back too, but I did meet my deadline, so phew!) But now there must be cheerful catching-up of things between working too!

Welcome back! Glad you had a safe trip.

I *hate* it when people all bring those large carry-on bags onto the plane and you're forced to squeeze your modest little bag on any-old-how. And some people really take the luggage to extremes; I wish they'd police it better at the airport. Coming back from Darwin a couple of years ago there was a bloke with an Esky on board! That's just wrong.

Your miserable-bugger bus driver reminds me of the lass selling tickets at Bayswater tube station on a bank holiday weekend in 2010. Flew into London at 5.30am, left my luggage at the hotel but couldn't check in until 2pm so decided to explore. I told the girl that I was just off a plane from the antipodes and wanted to go into the city to look around; could she tell me where to go? Her reply - Seven pounds! Soooo helpful! *g*

Re the election: The Guardian has been full of shock!horror! stories today, but I particularly liked this First Dog on the Moon comic.

An Esky as cabin-luggage is just... bizarre! Though I could understand a bit when it was a few people with odd-shaped/containing pieces of baggage, but now everyone does it, and it's just gaaargh!

Erk for unhelpful 5.30am lasses - though I must admit I'm not at my brightest at 5.30am either, especially if I had to be working on a bank holiday... Hope you found somewhere good despite her!

As for the election, I'm still very much in blargh over it... (but then I still am about Brexit too...) I like your comic!

Good to hear your trip back was uneventful. And, yeah, I hate those people who carry on luggage that shouldn't even be allowed as carry on. Of course, it would be nice if the airlines did something about that. I went out of my way to get a small carry on, yet people are allowed to carry on what are practically packing trunks!

I was really down yesterday. I can't imagine that so many Americans could be so stupid. I've kind of accepted it, though I'm still debating stopping any donations to the wildlife and environmental groups that I belong to. We're not going to make it, so I might as well spend my money on something like, I don't know, pets. Even the stupid Republicans like pets.

Oh - but then they'll probably need help in even more ways now! Please don't give up! It's wildlife and the environment all around the world that will be affected too - we need every individual person to stand up as we can get! Chin up, chuck - there's vast swathes of the world behind you...
