And who managed not to leave the house today at all...? I had such good intentions of going to the post office... but it was still raining, so... I didn't. *g*
And next thing I knew, the world looked like this again, and it was too late anyway...
I lost my internet mid-replies last night, now I have to try and remember what I said!
I quite like the dark of December - it's new, after summer and autumn, and there's wee lights and decorations for Christmas etc. I even don't mind it at the start of January, cos it's the new year and so on - but it's definitely getting old by the end of January, and I'm looking forward to the days getting longer again then!
Like I said (somewhere!) my niece did decide to cheer us all up by being born in the new year, so at least we have a birthday to celebrate. But everything until March does seem dreary.
Still snowdrops, crocuses...sometimes crisp, brittle snow crust and spangly pavements...
But I'm a bit worried my tendency to SAD, which I usually overcome with bright lights and was being ameliorated by the two types of anti-depressant I was taking, is responsible for my current cotton wool brain and enervated lethargy. Eco bulbs may be good for the planet but they're rubbish for me. Thinking a trip to B&Q (or sewing shop) is in order for a daylight bulb.
I've been doing so well, I don't want to be really ill again.
Still snowdrops, crocuses...sometimes crisp, brittle snow crust and spangly pavements... Yes! See, you've got it really!
Eco bulbs may be good for the planet but they're rubbish for me Whether they're eco or not doesn't affect the type of light coming from them compared to actual daylight though - you'd need proper "daylight" bulbs anyway. (Didn't know you could get them in sewing shops though - gardening shops, I'd assume...)
Not sure whether to hope your tendency to SAD is responsible for cottonwool brain and lethargy or not - I've had cottonwool brain and general lethargy for years now without a specific affliction... *headdesk*
Pros is an excellent replacement activity. Wish I could replace work with it (and still get paid... *g*)
The pic is a bit scary... That's why I don't go out much at night... *g* Hee - not really! It's the light right outside my door, and actually I don't usually even bother to turn it on, cos it's motion-sensitive, but it never quite stays on long enough to be useful when you're out in it!
Ooooh! It's like First Night! Imagine the scene: Bodie's missing. A ransom demand arrives on Cowley's desk with a photo of a beleaguered Bodie and that detail in the background. Doyle just needs to remember where he's seen that window before.... *vbg*
Yay!!! for Operation Susie! It's like Mother Nature wants you to watch more Pros...
If Mother Nature wants me to watch more Pros, she needs to do something about this pesky need-to-work-to-earn-a-living issue... though on the other hand that would probably involve not-living any more rather than being showered with gold doubloons, so maybe I'll be careful what I wish for... *g*
Isn't it funny what we focus on! I can never see those Magic Eye pics - don't think I've ever managed it in my life!
This is almost a light of the street variety, but actually it's a light of the domestic-motion-sensor variety, on the wall just outside my front door. It was too cold to go very far for a pic at that time of night! *g*
Ask the Family, the lads would have been familiar with it - it was a quiz show which pitted two nuclear families against each other in a quiz - one round of which was to try and figure out what was in a photograph taken from an obscure angle.
So extreme close up of the holes in a colander, of the inside of a pig's ear - that sort of thing.
He was a household name back in the day, this particular episode includes a question on the painting 'When Did You Last See Your Father?' a print of which hung next to my desk in school - consequently really quite familiar with it :0)
I didn't go out much actually, but Riverford driver chap today has just reported that the roads were underwater in general on Monday but by Tuesday all clear again, so I'm assuming it was fine as early as that. It's all dry and clear now, anyway!
And hee for the picture - it is indeed the light on the wall outside my front door!

It's January gets me down, still winter and no money and all dreary - unless we get snowdrops. Still, long penniless evenings are good for fic :0)
